Ken Smith BT-6

A truly stunning instrument to see & play! It's been my holy grail of Smith's after owning several, but home repairs call for some sacrifices.

Amazingly clean condition for its age. No neck or fret issues!
There is a blemish on the edge of the lower bout, apparently from guitar stand wear. 1" above the strap lock insert, about 1/2" x 1" long.
Mahogany body.
4A Walnut top.
Ebony fingerboard.
Coveted large headstock & 2-band preamp!
Smith strap w/Dunlop strap locks.
OHSC is worn and has a missing latch, but case still closes securely.

$3600 Firm. Includes CONUSA shipping. No trades please.

Contact me for audio samples.

You do know Patitucci's bass had a maple body, not mahogany, with walnut top, right? Not a big deal as I find most Smith's to sound alike.

I'm sure it's a great bass...but I've never heard mahogany described as bright or clean...I've found this wood to have a warm wonderful effect on the lows and low mids, but often needs to be combined with a brighter/harder wood (such as walnut) to help bring out the highs and keep the mud in check...

Hi,
would you consider a Thumb b.o.6 Custom Shop "Bleached Blond" ok for a trade?

Trade considered...

I was able to trade an old used car for my home repair, so I will now consider a trade only for Smith BT-5 or BMT-5. Prefer a walnut top and ebony board, but flexible on that!

Trades

To amend my trade considerations:

Late 80's to early 90's BT-5, any Smith BMT-5
Fodera Emperor 5 (double-cut only)
or an original pre-CBS Fender Precision (62-63 preferred).

Long shots, but had to put it out there!

Traded

for an unlikely contender: Lakland 55-94 w/cash my way! Fits better in my Classic Rock/Blues band...
