Ken Smith BT Custom 5 1991 3 knob pre!!

Hello!

Up for sale or trade is my 1991 Ken Smith BT Custom 5.

Specs!

5 piece body - AAAAA Koa, Maple, Mahogany, maple, Koa

5 piece neck - maple, Bubinga, maple, Bubinga, maple (neck has some Quilt to it)

Ebony Fingerboard with nice figure pattern

Smith Pickups

Smith 9 volt 2 band pre in the "3 knob" configuration

Smith Tuners

Smith Bridge

Custom pickguard made by Ken Smith (Ebony/Maple)

Original Tear Drop case

This bass sounds and plays fantastic!! Body has some dings here and there. Neck is fast and Smooth! Frets are in great condition.

The tone is classic Ken Smith as only these older ones have and the 3 Knob versions had that "extra something special" and this bass has loads of it!! Killer finger style tone and slap tone. Piano clear when needed also growly and punchy!

The bass was sent to Ken Smith in September 2012 to have new Smith tuners installed. The old ones worked fine but had got to be pretty worn. The old tuners will be included. Bridge is in good condition. Ken went over the bass and gave her a clean bill of health!

The pick guard was made for the bass around 2000 and is made of Ebony and Maple. Very sharp and well made as you would expect from Ken. Under the pick guard the bass has no scratches but it is screwed on. There is a dark spot in the wood, its not through the finish..almost looks like a slight cluster in the Koa. Looks great either on or off.

$3100.00 shipped in the US lower 48. Paypal is ok.

Trades + Cash:

I will look at trades but I need to net a minimum of $1000.00 cash off the trade. Interests are 5 strings only:

Roscoe
FBass
Tobias
Sadowsky Metros
Single Cuts
Aguilar DB amps (750/1, 359, 728, 680 and 659)

Throw others at me but again they must be 5 strings and net me at least $1000.00 cash in the end.

So, why am I selling?

This is a great bass no doubt and anyone who ends up with this will NOT be disappointed! But, I am starting a new build process and need cash.

Any Questions please PM me and as always thanks for looking

Candy!:

Yarrgh! Must...resist...temptation...

I currently don't have a Smith in my oversized collection and this is setting off GAS again...

Some purists may not like the pick guard, but I think it looks awesome!

As much as I don't want to be labled as an "Enabler"...I think you need to give in to temptation..lol

Yup, the Pickguard does look awesome and your right some wont like it but it can be removed but I like it better on.

That is one splendid BT Custom 5, and I have to say, that pickguard is pretty dang natty. Were I in the market, this one would be making it hard to get a good night's sleep.
