NO TRADES!!!!
This particular bass, I'm on the fence about selling. I may just keep her. She's VERY rare 1979 (pre-Ernie Ball) Musicman Sabre Bass in original and rare Olympic White finish with maple fret board. The Musicman Sabre bass was basically a Musicman Stingray with an additional factory pickup and some factory enhancements to the electronics (three switches for additional tonal options). Comes with an original Musicman hardshell case (this is the optional ribbed-white hardshell case that is also VERY rare). I had to seek out this case and it was not cheap for me to obtain.
All original with the exception of fresh MASTER refret by arguably the mid-atlantic's best luthier Phil Jacoby (formerly of Paul Reed Smith). The bass not only received true spec Musicman frets, but was also finished in Phil's PLEK machine which machines and crowns the frets within thousands of an inch (more info -- http://www.plek.com/en_US/home/ ). The maple fret board was painstakingly stain-matched to the headstock and back of the neck. It's literally a perfect match and you can't see a difference between the tint on the headstock and fret board. It looks totally original. Phil also wanted to give the neck just a hair of tilt, but NOT utilize the tilt mechanism built into the pocket. The mechanism is still there, but it's just adjusted to the no-tilt position. So what he did was cut a custom maple wedge shim for the neck pocket. It's pretty thin and just provide a hair of tilt, while also maintaining full contact between the neck and pocket. Tilt is also perfect. This is superior to using the tilt mechanism is it provides better contact and does not cause the dreaded "fret push" in which the pressure on a focused area pushes the frets in that area up. All of this work was VERY expensive and took a long time, but it was done right by one of the best luthiers in this country. Heck the PLEK process alone is about $200ish most places and then factor in the labor for the fret board planing, stain matching, clear coat, frets, custom cut maple shim, setup, new strings, etc. This cost me a small fortune! ;-)
With the exception of the Professionally replaced frets (which is a good thing), the bass is 100% original. Whoops, almost forgot that she also got new, foam mutes. These fetch $2100 - $2500+ on Ebay because the first generation versions are so rare. Case is missing one of the rivets for the carry handle (but that can be replaced easily). Nut is original. I'll take $1899 FIRM! The frets are FRESH and will last you for decades to come. Behold!!!!!!!
