Kinal SKB5 Flame Top: The Lakland killer

Sign in to disble this ad
Kinal SKB-5
- Alder Body
- Flame Maple Top/Ebony Veneer line/ Matching headstock
-Matching wood back cover and input jack
- Exotic Pau Ferro Fretboard/ Tusq XL nut
- The neck is assymetrically rounded, very comfortable
- 35" Scale-24 fret
- Kinal Proprietary Preamp 18V
- Active / Passive + many many pickup & switching options (very Audere like)
-Bartolini pickups, coil split bridge and mid switch
- Approx. 9 lbs. on postal scale
- 18mm adjustable spacing at the bridge
- Hipshot hardware
-perfectly balanced (none of that 35" "spector" neck dive)

I dont have recording equipment and cant get a vdecent vid on youtube of the SKB (alot on their hollowbody though). It sounds and plays very much like a Lakland, its less *tinny* and has more punch due to the neck and board construction, although with the preamp and tone can be achieved. I typically play it in dual single coil mode and switch on the humbucker to boost my low mids and cut through if the mix is too low and i cant spin around and adjust my volume. It slaps beautifully, and it can round jaco tone as well when eq'd right.

Custom built from Canada, very Lakland 55-94-esque, great sounding bass! It has very light swirling on the back ( i cant get it to come out in a picture) but otherwise is in great condition.
Website: Kinal Basses Base price starts at $2,350

WILL SHIP FOR $1300

I also have a natural/tort 5 string lakland skyline 55-60 with barts and a aguilar obp pre I could throw in for a 2-1 deal (lakky worth around 1100)

Bump for a beauty that I use to own. You won't find a better 5 string for the price. This bass feels like basses that sell for more than twice the asking price. It's a work of art IMO. Somebody is going to very pleased when they buy this bass! Here is a shot from two Summer's ago when it was my main 5 stringer.........

Dang...that was mine too....that's my dining room table!

...how did it make it to Alaska so quickly?! I must not have been paying attention.

This really is a simply amazing piece of work. I've moved away from 5 stringers & 35" scales - but I know I'll miss this one.

Somebody buy this - near me if possible

What is the nut width on this? Is the neck chunky or wide and thin (front to back)?

My custom SK5 is hands down my favorite bass that I own. It even has a slight edge over my Sadowsky. Someone will be very happy!
