NS2a

The main picture and the two later pictures are not the same bass.
Based on the latter pictures, I believe this is one of the Samick made NS-2a's. The knob configuration is a dead giveaway. Instead of the knobs forming a straight-up diamond like other Spectors, the diamond is tilted.
You may check the preamp on yours. I don't believe the Samick made NS-2a's have the Hazlab preamp. It would be good to verify this, as the Hazlab preamp or lack thereof may be a deal breaker for some buyers.
That being said, the Samick made NS-2a's were the last of them made, and there weren't many done by Samick
I just sold one of the Samick models. It had a beautiful wood grain that wasn't seen on the other NS-2as.

NS-2a

It's a killer bass. I thought the original preamp from mine sounded awesome
The transparent finish was gorgeous as well

price

As far as price one sold on here for 420.00 so a 500.00 bass is not unreasonable. thanks

spector

This just in from Spector basses. A NS-2A is an NS-2A just made in different factories. I was told they were made in the Samick factory at the end of their run. no matter where it was made it was for kramer/Spector and is what it is. Peace.

From what I understand and what PJ Rubal told me is that the Samick bodies weren't fully contoured like the older 2A's and the control layout was slanted a bit.

Samick models

Correct. The bodies are slightly less contoured. The knobs are offset. The control cavity cover is held on with four screws instead of six. The tuners are not schaller. They look like Gotoh or perhaps a generic gotoh style.
I read somewhere that the bridge was slightly different, but I can't tell. Other than these slight differences, they are pretty much the same bass. They certainly feel and sound the same to me

Letter from PJ

thanks for the additional pic.

as you and I suspected, you have an NS-2A.

by it's serial number it was made near the end of
the Spector/Kramer era, approx. 1990. the serial number
indicates this, and that is was made for Kramer at the Samick
Korean factory.

Kramer used at least three diff factories for the NS-2A/NS-2B/NS-2C
(most produced was the NS-2A) models in the late 1980s, right up until
Kramer went out of business. no matter which factory, an NS-2A is an
NS-2A

I hope this info helps.
PJ

FWIW, none of the NS2A's had actual Haz-Lab pre's.
They were all (well functioning) copies.
Judging by the OP's description, I think his has been replaced with an EMG anyway.
