Sign in to disble this ad
For sale: Lakland 55-01 - New condition.

LAST PRICE CUT...US$925 (including shipping to Con US, shipping to Canada additional). PayPal only, please. US and Canada sales only.

Trades: Lakland JO4, DJ4, 44-02, or Fender Jazz (AV, CIJ, '60s Classic, or Hwy 1) including cash one way or another, depending on the instument.

I bought this bass from The Perfect Bass just a couple of months ago, but have realized that I am just not at all comfortable on a 5'er, so this lovely bass needs a new home with someone who can give her the love she deserves.

The stock preamp and pups (the weak link of the 55-01) have been replaced with a Nordstrand 3B-5a pre and Nordstrand Big Split pups (almost $500 in upgrades). The new pre and pups really make it sound spectacular - big and clear. I LOVE the sound of this bass. The heavy stock knobs have also been replaced with Sadowsky-style aluminum knobs. All original parts (pups, pre, knobs) will be shipped with the bass.

Weight is around 8-1/2 lbs.

The pickguard in the pics will also be included, but has not been attached to the bass, so there are no extra screw holes if you prefer the bass without it.

Bump for a nice axe.

I have a Nordstrand-ed 55-01 and it is the shizz -- easily as nice as some of the more expensive 5ers I've owned.

Thanks, PSPookie! I definitely agree on tone, fit and finish. I really wish I felt comfortable enough with a 5'er to keep it.

EricF,

Super nice upgrades. I have seen alot of 55-01 with nordstrands but none with the nordstrand pre, which is one of the best on the market (IMO). Do you know if the lakland was Plek'd at the factory?

Would you trade for a Lakland 4401 same bass as yours in color, less than 1 month old...realized I wanted a fiver.

pickguard

i'd be interested in that pickguard if the new owner doesn't want it, or you sell it seperately before the bass.

I've got the same bass, less the upgrades (but i think it sounds great stock).

The Nordy preamp is quite lovely. As I've said, I LOVE the way this bass sounds. It's that B-string that is causing me fits.

Yes, it was factory Plek'd.

Thanks, but I'm looking for more of a traditional J at the moment.

wow!!! great bass and light at that!!!

I tried one with the Nordie pickups recently and all I can say is "WOW!"

Lakie -01 series basses are one of the most under rated basses on the market today...people who play them cannot beleive they are priced so low!!!

Price cut to $950.

If I don't find anyone interested in the next week or so, I think I'll just keep it in my arsenal. I would really prefer to send it to someone who will give it the attention it deserves, however.

agreed!

when my first 55-01 was stolen, I looked around at replacements and couldn't get excited about anything else, even within $300-400 of the cost of a new 55-01.

I got a new 55-01. Looks just like this one for sale.

Laklands 5'ers are well known for their excellent B-strings. This one is no exception. It feels solid and sounds great.

Someones going to be VERY happy. Not a Huge Lakland fan but the Plek'ing and upgrades alone make this worth the price of admission.
