I ended up with two Lakland 55-94 basses (don't ask) and will need to get rid of one.
Some of you might have seen this one here on the LOG site. I am the third owner. It originally belonged to Lakland's Leo Lopez, and Gus (Grateful) bought it from him.
Serial number says it was made in 1999. It is sparkle black (apparently only 1 of 4 made) with an antique pearl pickguard. It has Jason Scheff's signature on the headstock. Jason plays bass for the band Chicago, and his father Jerry Scheff played with Elvis and had his own signature model with Lakland.
It weighs only 9 lbs (9.05 to be exact). I am not sure what the body wood is, but it is most likely alder as all Classics. It is not mint, it has been played, but it is in great shape. There is some light buckle rash and a few dings. I tried to capture them in the pictures. The larger one is near the input jack. The bird's eye maple on the fingerboard is mind-boggling.
It is the best sounding 55-94 I have ever played or heard. It has the coveted 'old Barts' (logo is recessed) and it is all they say about it. Present and punchy. Lots of versatility with the classic Bartolini tones. It plays like butter, as usual in Laklands.
I am asking
$2,150 for it, Paypal, shipped CONUS. Really looking for cash at this moment, so not looking for trades. But I would not mind looking at a US 55-60 (JO5), a Nordy VJ5 or a Mike Lull 5-string jazz.
Here it is:
