I have had this bass listed a couple of times here and had 2 people commit and then back out of the sale. So before I trade this bass in to a store where it will get marked up way above what I am asking for it here I fiquired I would give it one more chance to sell to a TB'er to own it at a great price.
Here are the specs:
2000 U.S. Lakland 55 94 Unlined Fretless
AAA Flame maple top in beautiful trans. Amber
35" scale
Unlined Ebony fingerboard in excellent condition
Bartolini pickup's and electronics
9lbs on my digital scale
Comes with Lakland gig bag, unworn Lakland bassball hat, Lakland wide strap and Lakland brochure.
I bought this from a Lakland collector and the bass is in mint condition. When I got it it looked like it had never been played.
The fretless sounds you can get out of this bass are numerous and fantastic. It's really a nice bass all around.
So why am I selling it. I love graphite better. Thus me buying a Modulus Q5 fretless.
$1,550.00 shipped in the CONUS. Price is FIRM!
Payment can be made by U.S. Postal Money Orders or Paypal.
I would prefer the money orders but if paypal is the only option then I will take it. As much as I hate paypal.
No trades.
As per the title of the post says this sale is for 48 hours only. If it does not sell by 12/23 I am going to trade it towards my Modulus and the store that I trade it to will mark it up a heck of a lot more than than what I am asking for it here. Thanks for checking it out.

| | Registered Schmoozer. | | | | | Bump for you. I'm looking for an unlined fretless five. This is seriously tempting, but I'm 35" phobic, especially where fretless is concerned. For anyone looking, a quick "Lakland 55-94" search on ebay shows the lowest-priced one going for $800 more than this.
While I'm here, though, what do you love better about graphite, Dave?
And for Dave (or anyone), how do these basses hang on a strap, and what's the reach to the 1st fret like? (If I ever did consider a 35", it'd have to be one with a comfortable reach -- i.e. like an F-bass BN and not like a Warwick thumb or a T-bird).
This is a 22 "fret" neck (highest note on the G string is F), correct?
Good luck! |

Good luck! | This Lakland is a dream to play. It balances perfect. And yes it's 22 frets. For me the reach on the bass is perfect. It's just the right length where my arm does not get extended to far
where it becomes uncomfortable. I can play my fretted Lakland 5 all night and not be bothered at all. Same goes for this bass.
One of the best things about this bass is that it has a dot at the first position on the side of the fingerboard. A lot of fretless basses don't have this and I am assuming that whom ever ordered this bass had it made this way. It makes it very easy to find your positon down low. It really helped me out so much so that my new fretless is going to have the same feature.
What I love about graphite is the sound and the stability. Living here in New England we see temps go up and down like the sunrise. And going from a cold outside temp to a warm club inside temp back to the cold outside temp at 2 a.m. can play with a necks action. Being a low action guy I find that I can get the low action l like along with the stability with a graphite neck. Plus the sound I want. I have always loved graphite. Even back to the earlier days of the 80's when I had one of the first Steinbergers. I have also own Status, Vigier, Borgat and other Modulus basses.
As far as the price goes you are right about how much they go for new and used. It still baffles me that this bass is still here at this price. I keep thinking that it's Christmas time and no one has the $$ or it's the economy but IMHO this is a killer deal. For the condition that this bass is in it can pass for new. I have two parties interested in it and it might be sold by tomorrow. But you never know.
Anyways thanks for the bump and kind words.

| | Registered Schmoozer. | | | | I'm not going to open the lines/no-lines debate here but I will say that, overall, I seem to do better without.
Another thought: If you knew you wanted a 55-94, but wanted it lined, you could always get it, try living on the wild side (no lines) for awhile, and then get it lined if you really wanted to. Doesn't work the other way around. Quote:
