Lakland Skyline DJ4 (LBP, Mint Cond)

Well, I have two DJ4's, and I am needing to thin the herd a bit, so I'm going to have to let one of them go. One is my first DJ4, which I foolishly let go twice, but fortunately got back twice! I'm not letting this one go again! The other is an equally fine bass, but much newer, so I don't have as much of a connection to it. So...

This is one of the last of the Darryl Jones models, and it has never seen a gig. It's in mint condition, with no blemishes or issues at all. It does not have a case or a gig bag. I would like to get $900, shipped (to the lower 48). I would prefer a cash deal, but I might consider a trade.

Again, please note that only the blue DJ4 is for sale!

It's a Skyline, so it was made in Korea, and I believe the date of manufacture is 2009. It has the Hanson/Lakland pickups.

Hi Tom

Is there a tonal difference between the Aero pickups and these ones?

For some reason I got a Bass GAS attack...

cheers,
Funky

I have a Lakland DJ4 with Aero pickups that I swapped in it (to make a long story short, I was interested in hearing the Aero pickups' sound as it compared to the Lakland pickups' sound), and I've found that the bottom end is much more...boomy with the Aero pickups than the original Laklands. That term "boomy" bears a negative connotation for a lot of people, I imagine, but while it was used somewhat for lack of a better term the Aero pickups really are pretty bottom-heavy; they're powerful in the lows, which, IMO, is nice when using a Jazz bass instead of a P-bass.

Of course, this is all subjective.

Thanks for the comments! I have Aeros in my black DJ4, and on the whole, I'd say that my two DJ4's sound more similar than different. But considering the different boards (maple with the Aeros, rosewood with the Lakland pickups), that seems to make some sense. I'd say that the top end on my black DJ4 is a bit sweeter, and the top end on my blue DJ4 is a bit more growly.

Tom.

Here's a shot of the back of the headstocks, which shows that both were "Crafted in Korea."
