OK, I've created a monster and now it's gotten too big for me to control.
Please consider my 1 of a kind Lakland. I took a black 55-01 body and fine sanded it, then paste waxed it so it's a matte finish. Inserted 2 Nordstrand Big Singles and replaced the stock pre with a Sandberg Panther 3 band (made by Glockenlang I understand) and topped off with Jazz style knobology. But wait, there's more...
I lucked into a nice older rosewood 55-94 neck and it actually fit snug in with no mods. It's tight baybe! Behold the Super Stealth!
Quartersawn USA Lakland neck #5486 w/ birdseye dots and bone nut - frets VG+ with that incredible hand feel they achieve - baby butt smoove. Electronics professionally installed and cavities shielded w/ copper foil. Between 10-11 lbs. This is one live bass, even passive. Simply put, a monster.
I am hoping to find a 34" scale 5 with closer spacing to replace this and any trades will be in this arena. I lean towards warmer, passive sound and am especially interested in a P or P/J combo. The neck alone would run about a grand from Lakland IF you could buy one. Consider it the cheapest USA Lakie on the market. I would sell for $1300. Ships with a very used Fender molded HSC. |

Wish I could afford this great instrument with great modifications.
This is an artist's bass. Hope it gets into the hands of another innovator.

My small paws feel right at home. If I could do a shrinky-dink job on this bass I would keep it, it is totally 'me'.
As long as I am here, I want point out something I remembered- The back cover over the control cavity does not seat completely and I left one screw out at that spot. It must be contacting a part of the pre assembly. It is very slight and I don't consider it a problem. I have gigged this bass enough to tell it affects nothing.
Back to y'all. |

And they *absolutely kill* in that bass. |

Tom, I'm willing to bet a US neck would run substantially more than a grand from Lakland--I heard a quote once and can't recall it, but it was certainly more than that. In any case, bump!
