Lakland USA 55CS (Chi-Sonics!): one of a kind beauty!

Sign in to disble this ad
Well, one of three anyway, but the only one in this spec and this color!

Lakland 55 Series loaded with Chi-Sonic Single coils. Three were built, two with Chi's, one with Jazz pups under Chi covers.

This one has an alder body, stunningly bound and blocked neck, 60's pickup spacing; and is passive with standard v/v/t control layout.

She's super light at 8.5 lbs.

The shoreline gold paint is immaculately applied. There is one *super small* nick in the finish on the headstock, she's super fine aside from that.

The neck has a great feeling satin finish and vintage tint and is made of beautifully grained quarter-sawn maple It is a tad deeper than the Skyline's I've had, and has more headstock mass. This all translates into a great feeling neck, and more beef and sustain, IMO.

She's strung with new Dunlop nickle plated steels, and ahs a big, rich organic voice.
Much as I love this bass, I'm happier with my Sadoswky, Alleva and Valenti.

I'll be glad to keep playing her til she sells, fine as she is, but we're not long term dance partners.

Comes with Lakland USA's very nice creme and black, plush lined hard shell case, papers and tools.

$2300 shipped and insured.
WEEKEND PRICE DROP:
$2000+ACTUAL SHIPPING

Not really open to trades unless you have a Sadwosky MV5 Jazz; ash/maple single coil kinda thing.

Pics, some from PO The Butler, one of mine:

Alan:

I thought you were digging this?

sorry it has to go.....I have played this GREAT sounding bass a few times....

here is a video of it in action (John "Gecko 5" is playing it) .....near the end there are some minor solos so you can hear how GREAT the pickups sound:

if you go to the second video (near the bottom) you can hear what is sounds like slapped!

I've used this bass for every gig and rehearsal now for two weeks.
Nice as she is, I'm happier with my Sadowsky, Alleva, and Valenti.

Back open for business.

This is a most awesome bass! it is light and punchy!

I have a double single coil J JO5 which has the same pickups as this one....I LOVE it!

There are only 2 other ones like this out there....one is for sale on Ebay now for MUCH more (and it does not have the blocks and binding!) and the other is a fretless in the Soviet republic!
