Unhappy Lawyer bills are in - ARGH! For sale, Fender American Deluxe Precision V, beautiful

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey folks,

I *hate* to do this, but I recently won a lawsuit, and until the losing party pays up (yeah, right), I still owe my attorneys a couple grand. On the block is my Fender American Deluxe Precision Bass V, ash body ($100 upcharge from Fender), pao ferro fingerboard, excellent shape (a few minor dings & surface scratches from normal playing, but NEVER abused), beautiful translucent teal green finish.

Asking price is $1250 shipped to continental USA. I'll ship anywhere else you'd like, including internationally; PM me for details. Please send me your offers and I will reply promptly. I AM OPEN TO OFFERS.

I'm possibly open to trades with cash; I'm not interested in trading up at this time, though, as I'm primarily selling to raise cash. PM me with your trade or cash offers.

I've had this bass exactly 1 month and 10 days It's been gigged perhaps a dozen times, mostly at church, and even then as a backup to my MTD. It has a 1-month old set of DR Black Beauties on it, too. I am a professional and I take good care of my tools; this instrument is clean.

This bass was made in 2001 (it has the 18v preamp).

The following is copied & pasted from Musician's Friend (discontinued) listing:

Fender American Deluxe P Bass V 5-String Features:

* Maple or pau ferro body
* 22 medium-jumbo frets
* Deluxe lightweight tuners
* 3-band active EQ with treble boost/cut: ±10 dB @ 8kHz, a shift in the cut frequency, and
* about a 2dB slope per octave.
* Mid boost/cut: +10dB, -15dB @ 500Hz, and a wide band slope.
* Bass boost/cut: ±12 dB @ 40 Hz, with a 4dB slope per octave.
* 18V power supply
* Pickup-switching pan pot
* Deluxe chrome-plated 5-string steel bridge plate
* (Strings-thru-body or top load), with nickel-plated brass saddles
* Machine heads Fender/Schaller deluxe lite-bass tuning machines
* Chrome hardware
* Scale length: 34"
* Width at nut: 1.875"

Please note, although I've done my best to accurately represent the condition, this bass is USED, though, which means it's not mirror finish/flawless, so please don't get upset if you find a scratch here & there - I will take some close-up pictures of any scratches I find and post them soon, if anyone would like to see them.

I understand the need to try out a bass in person and hear it through your rig before you commit to it. With this in mind, I will offer a 7-day, no-questions-asked return if you just don't like the feel of it, the sound doesn't do it for you with your rig, your dog is scared of it, etc: You just pay shipping both ways and I'll take care of you.

Please feel free to ask any questions. I can record some sound clips if you'd like. I can also take specific pics of anything you want to see; just ask. My email address is mail@davemuscato.com and my cell number is (573) 424-0420, or you can just post in this thread, or send me a PM.

Best,

Wow, Dave. That sucks.

I don't know what it is but I love that color on that bass. I usually hate any green/teal/etc basses.

I have the exact same bass in a different color. It would be very tough to part with. Good luck with this.

Thanks for the wishes, guys.

Yeah, I found out the hard way that being a plaintiff is just as "fun" as being a defendant - This woman owes me about $4k, after 2 years of writing letters, I finally sued; I won, and then she filed an order of protection/restraining order because I "threatened" her... When we got in front of the judge for the hearing and the judge asked her how I threatened her, she told the judge that I "threatened to sue her," and also admitted that she does owe me the money. Ah, and the truth shall set you free! The judge chewed her ear off for that one. She told her, "An order of protection is to protect you from immediate, bodily harm. You can't get an order of protection against someone for threatening to sue you. If that were the case, we'd have a LOT of orders of protection. It's not unlawful to threaten to sue someone! This is a civil case. You are wasting my time. Order of protection denied; get out of my courtroom." Whew! I do have a judgment for the money, but this woman is broke, and the lawyer fees are for defending me in court for the order of protection (which I can't recover from her, unless I sue for malicious litigation, but suing her again would be a waste of time & money, since she's broke, anyway). What a crock... At the end of the day, I'm *out* several grand (aka my Fender P and my MTD Z6), even though I *won* the suit!

Anyway, I love the color, too... I held out for 6 months, surfing classifieds, until I found this one with an ash body and teal green trans. finish, to match my old (never should have sold it!) CS Strat. I'm sad to see it go, but I hope one of you guys will give it new life

I'm open to offers, folks. Fire away!

I've played it.
It's nice and mean: a really great bass.

Boooo on your situation, and the loser who caused it.

Payment just received; thanks for your interest, guys, and I appreciate the well-wishes. I do have an approval period of 7 days, so it is possible this will come up for sale again, but I'm going to lock the thread and say thank you to everyone for now!

Best,

Dave
