This is #47, eight pounds even, born 09/07 with the first pair of smoked chrome Darkstars...

Fred has since switched the surrounds to 'regular chrome' for me (QC issue with the first batch of smoke).

The Hipshot tree may have added an ounce:

After minor impact with ceiling fan:

Wrapped in a nice Pro Tec:

After Chef smoked this bass @ The Fugue, he pronounced the neck "perfect". Budman does know how to craft a fine instrument. If you like Darkstars and Les Pauls, here you go. The neck is set in the body more like a Fodera than a Gibson (Bud has better, more detailed pics on his site). The controls are passive volume / blend / tone. Not a noticeable dead spot anywhere on that pretty fret board . Except as noted in the pics above, it is in the same shape as when Bud sent it my way. Wrenches for neck and bridge adjustment are included. PM for details on sound clips. $1400 insured and shipped in CONUS.

Thank you, blender. I'm sorry I finally made up my mind to offer this one up after you took your upright plunge. A couple of other details: Bud chambers the bodies on these, that's why this nice 'hog only weighs eight pounds. I am also including a pair of black rings from Jeannie Pickguards that look cool and bring the pickups 1/16" closer to the strings.

Bump for a beauty. What's this sound like? Can you compare to a Rob Allen? Nut width and neck style? Just curious. Good luck, DM
