Up for sale is my LeCompte 8-string bass. This is one of the few extended range basses to come out of Bud's shop and as a luthier, I have to say Bud's work is not only top notch but I deem him as quite the perfectionist. If I am not mistaken this bass was commisioned for a bass shop, the original owner purchased this fine specimen and shortly after decided to give up bass. Luckily I was able to purchase it from him through extended range bassist after he took it off Ebay.
I have only gigged out with this bass once, so it is in immaculate condition. The custom Nordstrand pickups have a nice growl to them. The neck is really thin for being such a large instrument, roughly 3/4" around the first fret in thickness. String spacing is a bit wide at the bridge (18mm) for my liking, but I adjusted quickly. Brady Muckelroy set the action / trossrods in December. Onto the details!- Two piece ash body
- Satin finish
- Green dye job
- Seven piece quartersawn maple/wenge neck
- Twin dual action truss rod
- Bolivian rosewood fingerboard
- Medium/jumbo frets
- Matching ash headstock
- Corian nut
- Black neck mounting hardware
- Black Hipshot Ultralight tuners
- Black Hipshot "A" bridge
- Black Dunlop Straplocks
- Plastic control knobs
- Custom wound Nordstrand Big Split pickups
- Bolivian rosewood pickup covers
- Aguilar OBP-1, 2-band preamp
- Passive tone control
- Active/passive switching
- 18V power
- SIT strings
- 34" scale
- LeCompte gigbag
Extras: I will throw in a schaller locking system as well as a comfort strapp. Custom hole made in the strap to allow higher positioning (see pic in second post). Both original holes are still in place on the strap if you prefer lower positioning. Custom LeCompte padded gigbag with loads of storage as well!
Asking $2400, includes shipping to CONUS. Willing to negotiate price. Considering Ibanez Prestige 6 string basses, Warwick 6 string non-bubinga bodies, Conklin GT-7. Cash + Instrument to be determined.

The comfort strapp helps a great deal as well. My 12 pound Ibanez 6-string (all maple) feels much more heavy due to poor balance. |

If you have any of the ones listed above, I am interested but will wait until I find the right one. I am very interested in Warwick 6ers, specifically ones with Wenge necks and Ovangkol or non-Bubinga bodies. |

| | Registered Schmoozer. | | | | | Too many strings for me, but if I were looking for an 8 string extended range bass, this would be hard to pass up.
Just a thought: can you add "ERB" to the title? I think a lot of people see "8 strings" and think of four courses of two strings. |

| | | | how is it tuned? Is the low string a B, F#, C#, lower?
I'm really tempted to buy this because you're in my area and I'm starting to get into the ERB, but I really would prefer one with a fanned scale. |

| | | | Wow that is a nice bass. I cant tell in the pictures, but can you see the wood grain in the body? I'd really like to see it, as you're in my area and I'm starting to get into the ERB, I have a Warwick Corvette $$ 6er right now. You said price drop, is that from $2400?
