Lightwave Saber VL Fretless Lined 5 String

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello TB Nation

Not in a hurry to sell this, but I am open to trades just because I can never decide what I want (other than my wife).

So here are the specs and photos:

Lightwave 5 String VL Saber Fretless Lined

Very lightweight, semi-hollow body with a very nice maple top and gloss finish which is very blemish free.

Nicest tweed case with hygrometer I have seen. Yellow plush lining.

Charging cord, three sets of strings, polishing cloths, all original candy to go with bass.

The sound of one of these is very unique. No pickups, uses a light beam to detect string vibration, and has piezo pickups in each saddle controlled by the Icetone circuit.

Sounds beautiful. Played at church a few times, compliments galore on the sound and look. Fretboard is a composite.

I paid $870.00 for the whole package and $30.00 more covered the shipping costs to me. New on amazon this bass is 1600+ without a nice case and extra goodies. It is in mint condition. I would like $850.00 for it and $30.00 to cover shipping w/ insurance.

Any trades will be considered.

Thanks, pm me with any requests.

RE: Soundclip

You know, I have no idea how to get a soundclip on this site. Do you have any recommendations of how to do so? I can't record onto cd directly, and I have no digital either.

Does this Lightwave have the newer pickup/bridge design that lets you easily adjust the string height without having to loosen and lift the strings? I think they call it the Lightwave Series 3 system.

bridge and saddles

I haven't adjusted the height yet, but it looks as though it is a simple allen wrench adjustment. Then you simply have to make sure the light beam is still catching the string vibration. Not at all complicated, the bass whisperer does this on youtube.

The action now is not bad at all, just a tad high for me but I have gotten used to action so low you can't get under the string with a toothpick. I play it with no probs.

I know it is a newer bass, so it likely has the system you speak of.

Yep that's good. It's definitely the newer System 3 setup if you use an allen wrench to adjust the height. I have owned a couple of the older System 2 Lightwave basses and this is a real improvement!

Let me know if you decide to consider trades............
