It's not a Chapman Stick. It can be played like one, but they're different animals. I prefer the Free Hands technique (Chapman Style) but the Megatar has its own style. There's about 10 ways to string and tune these and it comes down to your personal ergonomics more than anything else.
They're made in Korea and are really well built. This one with the fanned frets you pretty much have to tune in BassBottom or some other ascending tuning, rather than the Chapman style with the lowest string in the center. The Barts sound great as well. Good luck with the sale! |

Truths: It is not a Chapman Stick, but is played two-handed touchstyle like a Chapman Stick. It is tuned in ascending 4ths starting from the low end BEADGC and on up in 4ths just like any other bass. For me, it made more sense than playing bass upside down since on a Chapman stick the lowest string is actually in the middle of the fretboard...just my preference. As pharaohamps said, there are many ways to tune it depending on your needs. I chose to stick with the standard bass tuning I am already familiar with. The Bartolini pickups and active preamp sound awesome!!!
False: Mine was not made in Korea...It was made in California. I know there are lesser priced Megatars...maybe they are made in Korea, but mine was made in California. It is extremely well built and is of the highest quality. The action is very low and is very easy to play.
Again, thanks for the bumps and input. I just wanted to clear up a few things to make sure that I am representing the instrument for sale properly.
