MIJ 62RI Walnut Jazz Bass and color changing MIM Fender jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm getting rid of a handful of my 31 basses and here are a couple more. The first is a 1962 Reissue made in Japan Walnut jazz bass. It is in great condition with just a few small dings in it. Has a matching headstock and all black hardware. $775 shipped CONUS SOLD

Next was a color changing MIM jazz bass body. In the dark it looks black. As you move it in the light it changes from a sparkly greenish to purplish. It has a thin nitro finish. There are some marks in the nitro finish and some scuffing in various spots. There are a couple paint and finish cracks around the pocket, as well as the edge of the pocket. I have pictured them. I ended up supergluing a chip that came off at the neck pocket. I added a vintage modified squier jazz neck. It also comes with a vintage modified squier fretless neck as well. The fretless neck has a few marks from someone using roundwounds, but you can't feel them on the neck. Both necks are drilled to fit the body. It has a clear WD pickguard, and bartolini pickups. Also has Dunlop strap buttons. $420 shipped CONUS for this bass with the two necks.
I can probably round up a case for the walnut bass.
I forgot to mention both necks have fender logos reapplied. The blocked neck has a 70's logo, which was finished over. There are a few blemishes in the finish. You can't really notice anything outside a couple feet though. The fretless neck's logo looks pretty good to me

That walnut is simply stunning! Is that the natural color or does it have a slight stain, do you know?

I am wondering this too. Also, is the black hardware all original? I never thought I'd be gassing for a J bass again, but here I am!!!

You know, I have seen a few of these for sale over the years. I am pretty sure the black hardware is original. The pickguard likely is not. The pickguard appears to be one ply black. It has holes drilled for thumbrest and pickup cover, but the body is not drilled for them. That leads me to believe the pickguard was added later. All of the models I have seen previously have had black hardware though
I cannot answer whether the walnut is its original color or stained

I have found several of these pictured online by googling and they all have black pickguards. I am leaning toward believing the black pickguard is stock
