MIJ Fernandes Jazz Bass mid 90's

well, i dont really want to sell this, but ive been acquiring too much stuff and i just stumbled into the 5 string version of this bass in the same color thatll be here on thursday. im keeping my car version of this bass.

so, ive had a ton of these over the years (i have a soft spot for them as they were my first j style bass) and they have all needed fretwork to play with low action in the upper register. they normally sell in the 300 buck range and you cant really shoot up into those upper notes without getting some clank or fretting out. this one was no different when i got it. i took the frets down in the upper register and re-crowned/polished them. the frets feel lower up there, but its now actually playable with low action. i currently have less than a mm of relief in the neck and and while holding down the 1st fret, the g string measures about 1.5mm at the 12th fret. id gladly raise the action if youd like. also in line with full disclosure, the neck volume pot shaft is a little bent and therefore turns a touch stiffer than the other two.

i also did the other things i needed to make this thing a player for me (like i said, i didnt think id be selling this). i beveled the edges so sharp fret ends wouldnt dig into your hand and refinished the back of the neck with danish oil and wax.

and as always, heres a soundclip so you can hear what it sounds like before you buy. the bass is plugged directly into an mbox running protools le. the order of the clip is
slap (both pickups dimed)
fingerstyle(both pickups dimed)
neck pickup fingerstle
bridge pickup fingerstyle (to demo the upper register notes)

im asking 400 shipped and insured via usps. the bass includes a budget gig bag. mij E series fenders go for much more and are of similar quality.

they really are pretty killer. im keeping my candy apple red and 5 string versions of this bass. they get the same playing as my high end stuff. its funny, i went to pick up my new 5 string nordy at carey's shop and he keeps one of these basses out in the lobby. i think its the same color!
