MIJ Precision Bass “George Porter –Beast Model” MIJ

Sign in to disble this ad
This P will absolutely blow the house down. It’s been my main player for the last five years. The serial # is E790188, which dates it between ’84 and ’87. It’s equipped with the highly sought after Raven Labs PBR-1 preamp http://www.musicgearreview.com/article-display/221.html, a G&L MFD humbucker and an aftermarket tort pickguard. The neck was professionally refretted about 4 years ago. Weight is just a hair over 8 lbs. The body has been autographed by George Porter Jr. (see picture). Currently strung with Ken Smith Compressors. There are the usual dings and scratches you would expect from a bass of this vintage which has been played, but no significant mars or blemishes.
It will ship in your choice of a Baja padded gigbag, Roadrunner hybrid case or an aftermarket hardshell case – all in good condition. I will also include the original MIJ pickup, electronics and white 3 ply pickguard. If you like the George Porter medallion I’ll include that also. If you don’t want the autograph, I’ll buff it off prior to shipping. $600.00. I’m also willing to return the electronics to stock and sell the bass for $450.00. Shipping is $50 to the ConUS.

Raven Labs PBR-1

It's a "B" neck. Standard P bass width of 1-5/8".

That is pretty. I know this may sound crass, but how hard do you think it would be to get the signature off of there?

It was done with a sharpie pen. It'll come right off.

Don't know for sure. It's a mid 80's model, I'd expect poly.

Not sure why you would want to do that...George Porter is the real deal...not many signature invoke as much mojo as Porter's.

This is totally worth it. What makes the E series MIJ's great is the build quality, not the electronics. That's got to be a balls out P.

Nice bass Howard. I wish I had some room here to grab that, I have been wondering about some MFD's in a P Bass for long time.

I love George Porter. I've never been one for autographs, and I certainly wouldn't want one on my bass. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. It is a cool looking bass, though.
