Hey guys, I had this and another bass posted for sale a while back to raise money for a guitar amp (which I got). I sold the other bass and kept this one, but due to a high interest student loan and the fact that I play guitar and haven't played bass in a band in six years, I'm relisting this for sale. I bought it new from a local dealer as a blem because it had been dropped on the lower strap button, which forced the strap button into the body about a 1/4". I fixed this with a spacer and a longer wood screw of appropriate size, and now I don't even think about it. There is a small bit of finish chipped away around this. I can provide a pic if anyone is interested.
Other things - bass is in mint condition besides the issue with the strap button. The nut split at the G string (which has happened to me on other Fender basses) and I had it professional replaced with a bone nut by a luthier in Athens, GA. I had it set up at the same time. It's better than new. Strings are (if I remember correctly) D'Addario medium rounds. I put a mint pickguard on it but will give the buyer their choice of guards (mint, black, or white). Personally, I like the mint. The bass has been left completely stock otherwise. It came with a semi-hard case rather than a gig back which is also in new shape. Everything has been kept in my non-smoking house (which is also climate controlled, fortunately).
I bought this when my old bandmate and I started talking about reforming, but it never happened. Nothing at all wrong with this bass, but under my present circumstances I need to sell it. I'm asking $650 shipped in the continental United States. I will take PayPal but prefer a money order or certified check due to costs. Please ask questions if you got 'em and I do have more pics -- if someone can tell me how to post more in the original post here I'll do it. Thanks for looking. Price lowered to $550 shipped in the continental US.

I use photobucket.com. A lot of other folks use flicker.com. I think you're fine with what you got, just post another of the back and you'll sell it. Also provide the weight if possible.

Download each picture to your Photobucket album, then click on "direct link" and paste into in the "Insert Image" icon on the TalkBass message box...the thing that looks like a mountain with the sun in the background. It's easier than it sounds.

I'd also be interested in trades or partial trades for the right bass. I'm really only into Precision basses, so... |

Five Five Oh shipped should get you some action on this, given the current economy...just a thought. I had my as-new Honey Blonde Classic 50's P with a Fender tolex case on here for $600 a few months back with no action at all, just tire kickers. I was probably $100 high but I wasn't willing to let it go for that.
The sunburst Dirnts are pretty rare and yours has one of the nicest bursts/woodgrain out there. Every new Dirnt I ever saw hanging on the wall at the local stores was black.
Good luck with the sale. These are great basses for the money.

maybe people dont understand the differences between the mim stds and and the classic/ artist series.
Good Luck with the sale

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Atlanta and Athens, GA | | | It is not a one piece body. The front is one piece but there's a seam down the middle of the back, which makes me think it's three pieces (one across the front, two making up the back). I have never really been too hung up on how many pieces guitar and bass bodies are comprised of...I've even gotten over having guitars with necks made of several pieces of maple.
The stock pickup does indeed have some balls, but I remember there being a lot of conjecture on the Fender Forum bass forum as to what they actually were. The marketing lit has always said something to the effect of "Custom Vintage '59 Split Single-Coil Pickup." I seem to remember it said "Custom Shop '59..." at one point and a lot of people started calling foul, since it was highly unlikely that the Fender Custom Shop was cranking out the pickups it put in it's '59 CS Precision for a mass production MIM bass. This made sense, but the first Dirnt I had supplanted an American Series Precision bass and an American Vintage Series '62 P-bass in my stable. Whatever is in the thing (some people on the FDP actually believed it was just a standard MIM Precision pickup), I've liked both that I've had. I've always kind of assumed that it was a production pickup modeled after the CS '59 pickup. |
