Mike Lull Thunderbird 4 String

I purchased this bass off of the TB Classifieds approximately 1 month ago. It is an amazing instrument and there is something great to be said about a mahogany bass...
I have been using my P basses and have decided to sell this.

Mahogany body, 7 lbs 12 ozs Brazilian rosewood board and the amazing Lull T-Bird pickups.
These pickups are WAY better than anything Gibson has made in the last 30 years. Mint + condition - in fact, the plastic is still on the pickguard and rear control plate.

Ships with OHSC
Any questions, let me kno
Price is $2,850 shipped conus.
No Trades.

Lull T4 sound

Dan,

How would you describe the sound of this compared to your P? I'm really tempted with this bass, but i'm so used to that Fender Jazz/P sound that I may not take to it.. I just don't have much experience with Gibson style bases. Thanks for any info

Thanks!

Hello,

The body wood is Mahogany which really works well on a J Bass..it has a woody tight defined sound and paired with the Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard it produces a very nice warm tone. You can solo the pickups so you can get a P Tone.... the Jazz Bass tone is very focused and well rounded.

The Fodera Monarch body wood is Mahogany which lends to the great tone from that line of basses.

IMHO the comparison is the P Bass is a bigger sounding bass compared to a tighter more defined sound from the T Bird. When you crank up the amp and use a pick on the t bird it roars...
Hope this was helpful...let me know if you need any more info.

I just got the 5 version of this. This tbird is so much better than a Gibson. The weight, 8lbs!!!! body detail in the sanding curves, amazing pickups, balance (no neck dive), PLEK'd, hipshot Lightweight clovers, not tbird matches a lull, worth the $$, buy this, it's rare-

Great bass!

For what it's worth, I had a chat with Mike a few months ago about the pickups he designed for the Lull T Bass versus the pickups in my (recently sold) '79 T-Bird. Mike said that he designed his pickups to better simulate those in the 1960's T-Birds, which sound different (and better) than those Gibson used in the 1976-1979 T-Birds.

I have this same model and color, though I opted for the ebony fretboard. Lull's T bass is very comfortable and easy to play. I found myself reaching for mine during our last tour more often than vintage Fenders or USA Lakland. No slam to those, I love mine. But this Lull T is that cozy. Plus one on the tighter focused sound. If you're thinking of getting one, do it.
