Mike Stevens SLANT 4 Custom Hand Made Bass

For those who don't know Mike Stevens he co-founded the Fender Custom Shop & is world renowned as one of the finest luthiers on the planet. I am fortunate to own several of Mike's pieces and they are all hand made, one off, masterpieces. There is a 2-3 year wait for any instrument (regardless of what he says).

This guitar is featured on Mike's site. Hand wound pickups, alder body...complete tonal flexibility. It has maybe 10 hours on it. My personal guitar that lives in my nonsmoking music room. I'm not a bassist so this is going to fund other purchases. Get it for the price of a new one without the wait.

$3500 firm shipped/paypaled. International welcome if you pick up the additonal costs.
8lbs-4oz 34" Scale

What do the "2 hidden mini-switches" do?

jazztonebass 01-27-2013 05:47 PM

What is the nut width?

Dluxe 01-27-2013 06:17 PM

On mine the mini switches are like the Roscoe Beck basses. Series Humbucker/Single Coil/Parallel Humbucker. The nut width is 1 1/2 on these basses.

Weren't the first Roscoe Beck models built by Stevens, when he was in Austin?

Dluxe 01-28-2013 06:15 PM

Yes. I remember stopping by his shop sometime around 1982 and he was winding these six string double jazz bass pickups. They were huge (I'd never seen anything like it before) and I asked him "who would play a 6 string bass?" :) They were for one of Roscoe's basses.

Thanks for all your interest guys!

Crazy, I would have loved to see (play) that bass.

:D
