I'm re-listing this bass with a major price reduction. Reason: I tried messing with the action a bit this morning and had a hard time getting it decent without fret buzz. Mind you, I suck at doing setups and adjustments - definitely not my forte. But I'm knocking $100 off the price so that I won't feel bad and the buyer won't feel cheated in the event that it should need a pro setup and fret filing, etc. to get it playing the way it should. At this price, consider it an "AS-IS" sale for what could just be a bass that needs a good setup or could be a fixer-upper project...no guarantees.
That said, here's the basic info...
2001 MIM Fender Precision Special. Candy apple red with gold-tinted pickguard (possibly taken from a newer P Special? not sure) and rosewood fretboard. This is the older, passive model and has a Jazz type neck. The bridge doesn't look like the stock bridges on other MIM's I've owned (i.e. not as flimsy) and may be a replacement, but I'm not sure what was coming on the stock '01 models. As far as I know, this still has the stock pickups.
It has some nicks/indentations here and there on the neck and headstock - nothing that shows up from a few feet away or interferes with playing, but you will notice them as you handle it. There are some scuff marks on the surface of the pickguard and the edges of it are not perfect. When I first played it, the volume pot for the neck pickup was a little scratchy and would cut out but seems okay now - might have just been a little dusty from not being used for a while or might need replacing soon.
Comes with a Fender gig bag in so-so condition. Currently strung with GHS Brite Flats. I have a new, still-sealed set of TI Jazz Flats and, if you want them, I'll throw them in for an extra $25.
$225 shipped to the lower 48 (or
$250 if you also want the TI Jazz Flats). Prefer not to ship outside the U.S. PayPal or Postal Money Order accepted.
As a side note, I should mention that I have HAS Sound P/J pickups and HAS Sound JB-1 passive electronics on order for this. If the buyer is interested, he/she can have first dibs on them when I put them up for sale once they arrive (which I expect will probably be within the next couple of weeks or so).
Here are the pics (borrowed from the previous seller on eBay - they're clearer photos than I would be apt to get).
