Modulus Flea 5 fretless 5A quilt maple w/OHSC - $1200 shipped - college $ fire sale

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

Selling my 2005 fretless Flea 5. In excellent condition with the exception of a pair of small finish dings, shown in pictures. Will ship in OHSC which is very good condition, just a bit of scuffing and the typical collapsed foot. Bass has all-Bartolini electronics with the 3-band EQ. Neck is lined, and has a great shape and feel to it. Bass plays and sounds amazing. Has a set of extra light rounds on it with about an hour of two of playtime on them.

Looking for a quick sale because a source of college funding fell through and I need to make up the difference right away, so pricing this beauty at $1200 shipped. Also selling because since I don't play with the band I bought it to use with anymore (broke up over a year ago), my Warwick gets all the playtime now on the gigs I'm currently doing, and this baby deserves to be played. Of course, if I didn't need to finish me degree I'd probably hang onto it regardless. I know Christmas probably isn't the best time to be selling a fancy bass, but then again maybe it is..?

I'm in Portland OR and am willing to ship within the continental US. Paypal preferred, check or money order accepted but will need to clear the bank before she ships. Paypal gets it out the door the same day. I know I don't have any feedback on this account, my old account Hotratz has the feedback from prior purchases I've made on TB. My PM box on that one got bugged and wouldn't let me send, so I made a new account a while back. First time selling on TB.

Please feel free to drop me a PM with any questions or to request more pics, look forward to passing her on to somebody who will play her! (and finishing my engineering degree!!) Thanks.

Couple of questions:
- What's the scale length?
- What's the string spacing?
- What's the fingerboard (wood/composite?)
- Is there a truss rod?

Thanks.

I bet that thing just SMOKES! I had a Flea 4 and it was pretty rad. I bet a fretless would be amazing.

Awesome bass!

What is "the typical collapsed foot"? I have not heard that term or condition.

Maybe that was an autocorrect error? Never heard of it either.

Typical collapsed foot would refer to the small round metal foot on the bottom of the hardshell being pushed back into the case. Usually doesnt affect case use other than standing on its side

Couple of questions:
- What's the scale length?
34".

- What's the string spacing?
Not sure on the spacing, can measure tonight if there's time before the gig, or Saturday when I get back from my gig on the coast. I believe it's whatever is standard for a Flea 5'er. The website specs for the Funk Unlimited (which afaik is the same thing minus the Flea name) doesn't give spacing but does give neck width - 1.75" at nut, 2.75" at 22nd fret. MODULUS GUITARS - Funk Unlimited

- What's the fingerboard (wood/composite?)
Fingerboard is phenolic, a composite material. Hard enough to allow the use of roundwounds, but still warm sounding and comfortable to play.

- Is there a truss rod?
Yep.

And asands has it right on the collapsed foot - one corner foot is pushed in, pretty common with the hard plastic molded cases. Seems like it still stands pretty well, I'll test when I get home and also try to get a pic posted of the foot in question.

Incidentally the bass has the dual-mode straplocks on it, the kind where you can still use a regular strap if you need to. Thanks for the questions, keep em comin!

34"? Seriously? Did these also come in a 35" scale, then? If it were unlined I would join in these nefarious "stalking" activities you speak of. Instead I'll just bump your thread.

I'm not super-educated in the history of Modulii, but to my knowledge the Flea only came in/Funk Unlimited only comes in 34" scale. The Quantums are all 35", I believe.

Aaaand she appears to be sold folks, pending payment! Will update once finalized.

Couldn't believe it took this long! Lovely bass, glad it's found a new home.

I have the exact same bass, only fretted. Just ordered a fretless Carvin SB5000, otherwise I'd have been all over this.
