Nice basses. I may be interested in the Ristola if I can sell my amps that are listed in the classifieds.

Also, upcharges on the G&L are:
special ordered tilia body for comfort, natural binding, AAAA quilt top, tinted fretboard. 4 custom upcharges. 6 month wait. Offers accepted. More photos forthcoming.
Good luck selling the amps. Were I a pro, I'd buy one.

that MTD is really cool. And a rare bird painted like that. I'd be tempted to swing it if I had the need.

Fralim, you will not be dissapointed with this bass. I have a Ristola fretted 4 and also a fretless 4 on order. If you do a search, you can find a thread that I started about it. Plus, that one has the older question mark/fish hook logo that he's not doing anymore. I was so close to picking this one up, but needed to sell some gear.

mtd and g&L more photos

The mtd is killer. I've been checking it out for about a week and it sings. Nice round tones. Great mids, solid feel. The wenge board is nice too.
The MTD is for sale for $1500 and the G&L is $1400. OBO. The only trades I'm interested in are Brubaker basses or Fender P bass.

It has the wenge/wenge neck with zero fret. It's from 95 and has a korina body. Mike Tobias told me he said he used that wood combination a lot then as it made for a nice mid-rangy clear-toned bass.

Plus, FYI,

[from MTD website] A wenge neck and board add compression and focus to the speaking voice of the bass. The bodies and necks are ergonomically carved to allow comfortable access to the extended scale bass. The pickups and active electronics are a proprietary design for MTD made by Bill Bartolini. The controls are: master volume and a pan pot, treble, mid, bass cut and boost, with center click (from neck to bridge). The three position switch selects the mid range cut and boost point. Down is lower mids, center is middle and up is upper mids. When the mid pot is at center click, the switch has minimal effect. This EQ has 2 batteries and is a +/- 9 volt system.

* There is great variety in the settings of the EQ. The basses can be made to sound very traditional by cutting the mids all the way at 1000 (switch in top position), and boosting the bass and treble to 10 with the blend pot at center. This offers a great slap tone. Boosting the mids at 250 ( switch in lower position), with bass at 10 and treble at 9-10 with the blend pot on the bridge pick up gives the early Bartolini TCT tone. This offers a very percussive finger tone. These are just suggestions. The tone will vary depending on the rig and technique used.

It's really a sweet bass, especially for $1500. Some of my favorite things are pink.
