MTD 5 string, ash/rosewood $2500

Sign in to disble this ad
Well Im trying to trim the redundancy in my collection to focus on playing more and grazing less so here goes. Ash body, incredible burl maple top, maple neck, rosewood board. Near mint condition 2500 in conusa.
The fattest of my MTD's with an ability to almost be traditional yet still retain that fat/mtd clarity.

Im selling as even though its beefier than my tulip/wenge MTD im keeping that one strung with a high c for that "hyped solo bass" stuff and using my nordy for the traditional ash/rosewood thing.

Pics are posted on my 10/23 chris lykins basses shutterfly share sie. if anyone knows how to link it or post it I would appreciate it!!

What condition is the bass in? Any issues a potential buyer should be aware of?

Also its 9.2 lbs, and #670. Only trade Im thinking of would be an alder/rw sadowsky or nordy 5 string PJ or an Alleva LG. This is bass is underpriced to sell as anything with a figured top seems to go for at least 2700 lately. Its gonna make someone very happy!

Nothings wrong with the headstock, that change in color from the volute to the back of the headstock is on every American MTD Ive owned whether the neck is ash, maple, or wenge. Ive owned 7 at once and its been there on all of them. If you mean where's the pictures there on the shutterfly account linked on the first post. I dont know why Mike does that, maybe a luthier could chime in?
Good question though.
