MTD 635-24, Stockton burst, ash body, maple neck

I can't believe I'm doing this.

Up for sale is my recently acquired MTD 635-24 #1274 . The specs on this bad boy: ash body myrtle top with Norm Stockton burst, one piece maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, 35" scale, 3-band bart EQ. super comfy 18mm spacing at the bridge and the bass weighs in at a paltry 9 lbs. on the bathroom scale. The over all condition is great to excellent with no wear on the neck and a moderate amount of player wear on the body. The bass comes in it's beat, but still 100% functional MTD zero-G case. The bass has a low set up and zero buzz across the whole board. The bass sounds like a million bucks. My guitarist says its the best sounding bass I have in the stable (there are many in the stable to choose from!). Big balanced sound with a nice high end slice, but no tinny thin sounding sizzle, and clear crisp low end with zero fart. oh, and the B-string is HUGE! first the pics, then more info below:

Here's the full skinny on this thing: The previous owner had neglected this thing something fierce (I learned my lesson about buying site un-seen as well!). The battery cover was missing and there were 2 tiny cracks in the headstock (neither ran all the way through, but still noticeable). The tuners and bridge were, let's just say, "used". It also had the most hideous knobs I'd ever seen on any instrument. I sent the bass back to MTD and Mike fabricated and color matched a new battery cover (pretty darn close too!). Mike also fixed the cracks and added veneer overlays to the back of the headstock (alembic style) to add strength to the headstock (pics below), then completely refinished the neck, re-signed and re-numbered it. The bass also got a brand new set of tuners, new bridge, new knobs, and a new set of pots for good posture's sake. the bill for all the work and the shipping totaled out just over $500

So there you have it. The bass sounds incredible, plays even better and looks great as well. I bought this with hopes of starting to get back into 6 but with the wife needing a new car, and fivestringdan selling me one of the finest 5ers ever I should probably be more sagely with my money so sadly it must leave.

Asking $2850 + shipping from 45241

Damn Kennedy, that's hot!!

Hey I'm still rocking the T-410 that you sold me 5 years ago, it is a beast and it is the most trusty cab I have.

Bump for a great TB'er to deal with.

Thank you sir! I was talking about you cab the other night. I said I sold it because it was too big. That conversation happened just after moving my Aguilar 8x10

Looks as if Mike did a great job on the headstock (I really like the look of that veneer and accent line). Bump for yet another example of Mike's fine work!

Mike's work is incredible! the finish work is flawless and the veneer work is top notch. I'm really bummed that this has to go, but the wife needs a new car!
