MTD 635 - MINT/New Condition

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got this bass in a trade with Joel. The bass is everything he says it is and more.

Here's the link to his original thread:

MTD 635 - MINT/New Condition

Joel bought this back when he was part of the Groove Shoppe. He ended up sticking it in a closet and literally never using it. The bass is dead mint. (It is mint!)

Joel hand picked the woods on this so everything is absolutely prime. Even the Wenge is a beautiful creamy and smooth piece - as opposed to a lot of the chalky looking ones that you often see.

* Ash body
* Highly figured Maple burl "10" top
* Wenge neck
* Wenge finger board
* Matching truss rod cover
* Matching headstock veneer
* Dark cherry burst
* MTD hard shell case

This is the classic MTD wood combo and tone - big and growly with a presence that only comes from an MTD. This particular bass is an exceptional example of what makes Mike Tobias so sought after.

Looking to trade only for the following:
4 or 5 strings only please:

* Really nice Sadowsky NYC's
* Alleva LG or KPB
* Fender Custom Shop
* Ken Smith
* Celinder
* Lakland

All +/- cash as appropriate

Will sell for $3700 shipped in the continental US -- this is a steal on a brand new bass! Comes with MTD hardshell case. (the case has a bend in the metal hook that holds the leather handle. Just cosmetic, handle is still attached and working)

Not looking for anything else.
The pics are from Joel. The bass looks just like that but better in person. It really could be sold as new.

Also, Joel told me to give it a shot to see if I can get used to a six string. So I am going to give it a try and see if I can adjust to it. In the meantime we shall see what's out there.

Thanks,
Steve

More photos, the actual color is like the photos from the groove shoppe. I am not a photographer, but I hope this helps.

I am going to give it a shot. I am mainly a 4 & 5 string bassist. Plus 34" scale is on all of my basses. I will see how it goes but in the meantime I thought I would see if anyone is interested in it. Unless I decide I can handle a 6 string then the thread will come down.

I hear ya. Extended range is nice once you get the hang of it. Took me a while then I started getting pretty creative once I got the six string vibe down. Practice make almost perfect.

This bass really is amazing. It plays, sounds, looks fantastic. I still think Steve should give it a chance for at least a couple of months - but I totally get how impractical it can be having a bass sitting around that you aren't using.

Great guy to deal with BTW. To anyone who's considering it, I would have no hesitation at all buying/trading with him.

Wow!....What a nice bass Steve, wish I had the loot... for real. Here's a bump for an excellent guy to deal with, and a very beautiful MTD.

I would be interested in the Sadowsky. I just renewed my supporting membership. So my PM box is back up and running.

I agree, but things have been taking longer to sell than normal. All PM's have been responded to and some good offers coming in. Just waiting to hear back. She's still available for now.
