Grendel and Beast.......... MTD Czech Republic creations.
Grendel is 34" and the Beast is 35" (5 strings)----at least this is what most internet searches I have done report.
Both have poplar bodies.......wenge fingerboards (? ), Bartolini J pickups, the Grendel also has the Bart preamp and the pretty quilted/flamed maple tops, and I think the hardware was also upgraded. I saw one at the Nashville NAMM show a long time ago and it was beautiful. At that time distributed by Matthews and Ryan, out of NY.

Mike Tobias has always went back and forth between 34"---35" scales.........his newest MTD overseas creations are 34".........the Saratoga and CRB Chinese models.

Incorrect. The first run of Grendels, which have a wenge face on their headstocks, were 34" scale. This later-production example has, as the OP SAID, a 35" scale.

I stand corrected. I love the 35 " scale myself and I own two MTD 5's made in Korea. Both are excellent. This is one fine looking instrument!! Congrat's to the new owner!
