SOLD!!!
This is a vintage 1978 Ernie Ball MusicMan Stingray 4-string Bass (serial number is B01XXXX, neck date is Nov 1978, pot codes are 1978, body date stamp is there but can't make it - not sure if it's 1978 or 1979, but the bridge is the older pre-1979 style with the offset string through holes, so most likely 1978). The bass had been badly refinished when I bought it (you can see the traces of seafoam green paint in the neck pocket) and the neck was badly worn. This bass has been restored to like new condition; the body was refinished in era correct three-tone sunburst and the neck was finished in an aged vintage clear by Pat Wilkins, the best finisher in the business (he does all the high-end finish work for Sadowsky, Lakland, M-Bass, F-Clef, etc). The maple neck, ash body, bridge, felt mutes, all plates, pickup, epoxy coated preamp, pots and tuning keys are original. The only non-original parts are a new black pickguard, new bone nut, new frets, new headstock decal and new Dunlop straplock buttons.
Bass is heavy northern ash (11.6 lbs) and sounds like it feels - it's a bulldozer. Funk in yo face to grindy metaldeathhardcore. This bass is used but in brand new condition. The neck is straight and the truss rod works in both directions. The frets were professionally installed, leveled and dressed. This is one of the few vintage Musicmans that will allow low action - the action has been professionally set low with a new set of DR Sunbeam nickel roundwound strings (45-100 gauge). All electronics are original and work perfectly - the Alnico slugged pickup and 2-band preamp combine to give you the classic Stingray tone. A non-original black tolex case will be included with the bass.
SELLING FOR $2300 shipped in the US. International shipping is no problem, just PM for a quote. This bass is on eBay right now (won't post the link due to TB rules) but I will end the auction early for a Talkbass'er.
