Musicman Stingray 5HH, EBMM SR5 Black/Maple - MINT Condition

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought this from a TB'er about a month ago as my last effort to embrace the 5 string concept, but alas, I'm simply a 4 string guy. I just can't get myself used to the low B string no matter how hard I try. This thing is so damn mint, it's scary. It literally looks cleaner than the ones on the racks at Guitar Center. The HH pickup configuration is really great and I wish my other EBMM SR4 had the extra pickup for all the great tones you can get. I'm not sure if the pickups are Alnico or Ceramic, but if you tell me what to look for I can identify it for you. The strings are TI Jazz Flats. The case is also in mint condition and comes with all case candy. I don't know what else to say about this bass besides the fact that you could spend another $700 or so for a new one, or just buy this one and tell everyone it's new. Price is $1250, which includes free shipping to the 48 states. I just want to get back what I paid for it. Sorry about the huge photos, I just want to show how mint this bass is.

Weight? Also, the year it was made might indicate alnico/ceramic. Anybody else know how to tell?

According to musicmanbass.org, the E56 serial number (if I'm reading it right) makes it a late 2006 or early 2007. They didn't switch to alnico until March 2008 so this one most likely has ceramic pickups.

The previous owner told me he bought it new from GC in 2008.

As far as the pickups: someone once mentioned that the difference could be determined by the shiny-ness of the pickup poles. These are shiny, my other SR4's are duller. If anyone could chime in...

I'll check the weight on my bathroom scale tonight.

Thanks for the interest.

shiny = ceramic

The alnico pole pieces never look polished and vary from light grey to dark grey, sometimes even black when heavily used.

PM sent. Also, can you please verify the weight? I have an EBMM SR4H right now and this thing is a beast (probably close to 11 lbs).

Bump for the perfect brand and color of bass. I feel your 5 string pain. I just sold a Sterling 5er that I had for about 6 weeks. Just couldn't get my brain to work that 5th string properly.

I just can't get used to muting an extra string. My 4 string muting technique has been perfected over the years. I can't even imagine a 6 string.

This bass is now on hold pending payment.

Thanks, Ara! I look forward to *hopefully* making this my main! I'm coming from the world of 4 bangers as well...

Locking the thread would be a great idea.
