Natural '79 Peavey T-40

Sign in to disble this ad
My '79 T-40 just isn't getting the playing hours she deserves, and so I'm hoping to send her to a good home. Between the 2 humbuckers, and coil splitting on the high end of the tone knobs, this baby can cop a lot of tones, I've got some really nice sounds out of this bass, from a nice warm Precision to a hot funky Musicman, to one of the best rickenbacker impressions you'll get from a bass in this price range. I love this bass, but I just don't play it very much anymore.

SOLID hardware, smoothest tuners I've used, and the bridge is massive. Neck is straight, and the truss rod has plenty of play in either direction, a very sturdy neck (2-piece maple) Everything is original except for the switches, which was a common problem with the early T-40s. Don't get me wrong, this baby is nice for her age, but she's a player; numerous small dings, and finish is worn all along the upper side of the body.

Asking $300 plus actual shipping, Paypal only. Will take cash if its a local deal. Continental 48 states only, no international.
PM me your address and I will quote your shipping via USPS Priority Mail from Massachusetts.

Onto the pics!

Replaced switches:

String-thru

Neck plate w/ tilt-adjustment

Patents Applied for, indication of its age

Beefy Schaller tuners

Metal nut

Scratches/dings

Finish wear

Also note, strings need to be longer to accomodate the string-thru body, standard d'addarios taper too soon on the E-string to fit with proper intonation, I suggest strings designed to fit a 35" scale.

Is it only string thru body, or can you also top-string it?

I have no case or gig bag for it, it is too big for the ones I have (at its widest point the body is 14.5")

It is string-thru only the way the bridge is designed.

Exact weight coming when I get a chance...

I have had a few of them and still own one. Unbelieveable basses for the $$$ and built like a tank. MIA and $300... can't beat that.

Waiting on tax return, will most likely buy it if it's still available BUMP. Get it before I do, I don't need the temptation!

This was one of the first basses I ever used back in high school. We didn't have a spare strap at the time so I used a shoe lace as a strap. It friggin killed my shoulder and I swear, to this day, it wore a groove in my collar bone!

If I had the extra scratch I'd jump on this. Free bump!
