Hi all,
I've bought and sold about 20 guitars/basses in the last 2+ years, but I've never paid more than 700 dollars for one. I'm interested in purchasing a Rick and don't feel like I can afford the price for a new one. So I'm looking at used.
If you have the time and are experience in this area, take a look at this link. He is offering this to me, for 1300 shipped. If you look at the second picture of the back of the bass, there is a white spot in the upper right hand corner. He says it is 'wear' showing through. I have asked him for closer and better pictures of the 'wear'. He is in the process of putting that together for me.
I know I have a very little chance of getting a 29 year old bass in pristine condition but I don't want one that's all beat up. I can get the exact model on Ebay, except it is a 2009 and has been sitting in a case and played one time, probably for 1700. I know that is 400 more than I truly want to spend. I don't know. What's the opinions and advice here? http://www.rickresource.com/forum/vi...p?f=6&t=394857
Thanks,
Jack |

I think that might be a little paint nick in the "wear spot", nothing major. It looks good and that is a good price. My 2 cents.

IMO a well worn bass is a beautiful thing and $1300 is a great deal. |

I would personally go for the mint one for the extra $$, but one thing that I know about Rics, they are not all created equal. 25 years ago, I had to have a 4001, but I had to try at least 6 different Rics before I found "the one". My opinion only. |

| | | | Prices are off on basses right now. I just sold my 2004 Jetglo for $1260. 9/10 condition with case and case candy. That's what I could get for it cash. You can shop a good deal and $1300 seems about right to me for one in 8/10 or better condition. My best advice to you is that if you're not familiar with Ricks, play before you buy. There are apparently dividing lines in production with thick or thin necks, pickups, etc that make each generation unique. I didn't like mine and thus sold it. The new owner loved it. |

I was able to get a great deal on a new 4003 Fireglo at Sam Ash. That way I got the warranty and all. Thanks for your input and time.
God bless,

So does the Pope. God told me to tell you that he loves all Rickenbackers equally regardless of condition. Except for the red ones. |

I hope it's just for RIC's. Quote:
