TalkBass Forums - Noel Redding MIJ Jazz Neck on Unknown Body

This is a 1997 Fender Noel Redding Jazz bass neck on an unknown body. The tuners, neck, pickups, and pots are all from a noel redding limited jazz bass. I am not sure where the body came from. The neck plays great, is straight and can hold a low set up. They made something like 800 of these, and you can see that the back of the headstock is numbered 0165.

The body is in good shape also, but as you can see in the pics, is not the best fit for the neck. The body is painted with nitro that has some checking. It has a cool vintage look. I am not sure where the body is from. There are gaps on both sides. Also some genius carved out a space in the body and pick guard to be able to adjust the truss rod. Everything functions properly, but its just not an original noel redding reissue bass. The pots are cts pots dated 1997 so I believe they are original. The pickups are unmarked, but I believe that they are original noel redding pups too. The bridge has one saddle that doesn’t match the others. I am not sure who put this body together, but it plays great, it’s just not original.

I only have a thin fender nylon giger to ship this in, but will pack it very well.
