I do love this bass, but it covers a lot of the same tonal ground as my Nordy vJ5M (which has the same pickups and preamp, and same basic woods), so I'm offering up for sale my Nordstrand NX5. It has an ash body, myrtle burl top, and a kicking birdseye maple board. It originally had Dual Coils and an Aguilar OBP-3, but I had Carey swap it out for Big Singles and the Nordstrand 3-band pramp. The switches currently do nothing. Here are some pics (which were actually taken by Vic):
This entire photo album can be viewed here.
Here is a link to a prior listing here on TalkBass which has even more deets and pics.
I am asking $3,000, shipped, within the lower 48. It does come with a nice padded "N-logo" gig bag. One of the zipper handles is partially broken, but still works. Other than that, the bass is in mint condition. It currently has Sadowsky Blues on it, but that set had a bad B-string, so I have I think a DR B-string on it right now.
Looking for a cash sale only at this point.
Thanks, Tom. |

| | There's more music in the nuance than the notes. Staff, Bass Gear Magazine | | Join Date: Oct 2002 Location: Central Illinois | | | I borrowed this bass from Cory (Saluki) for a few gigs (hence the pictures), and that was before the pickup/preamp swap... it sounded good then, but I bet it sound fantastic now. The neck profile and fit/finish is also classic Carey Nordstrand... also fantastic.
And we all know Tom, so clearly, don't hesitate on this! |

More authority; more growl; more snap. That preamp made a big difference, too. |

I'll let Tom confirm on this, but I'm pretty sure it's standard 19mm. The Nordstrand web site says 34.5" for the NX5, and I don't think this one is a custom scale, so I'm going with that, too.

Currently set to 19mm at the bridge, but since this is an A-style, you can tweak that, if you like. |
