Nordy VJ5 with reverse P/J!

Sign in to disble this ad
Just picked up this Alder/Rosewood(Brazillian!) Nordy VJ5 here on Talkbass. It's a great bass but it doesn't really give me anything that my other basses don't. It does have warmer/fuller lows than my 2 ash/maple P/Js with a sweeter and less snappy high end. I normally don't care for 19mm spacing but this thing is a pleasure to play and quite light. The bass itself is in very good condition with the exception of a ding through the finish on the front surface of the bass which isn't too bad but noticeable.

I'm looking for trades for 5 string basses, preferably <19mm spacing and 34" scale. I'm looking for something in the realm of an MTD, Skjold, Spector, R-Bass but may consider a nice Ash/Maple jazz.

If this thing doesn't get much interest I may order a pickguard and jazz pickup from Nordstrand and convert this to a straight jazz bass for a while.

Specs:
34.5" scale
19mm spacing
8.7 pounds
Alder body (ultra lightweight and highly grained-looks like ash)
59 Sunburst (upgrade)
Hipshot Ultralight Tuners
Hipshot Style "B" Bridge (upgrade)
Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboard (upgrade)
Pearl blocks, and white binding (upgrade)
Nordstrand PJ pickups (upgrade)
It is also routed for a J in the neck position.
Rear Route (upgrade)
Sadowsky Preamp w/VTC
Battery Box
Dunlop Straplocks

Old Price Info:
vJ5 Vintage style J bass $3,090.00
Options
Burst, trans, or metallic finish $150.00
Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboard $200.00
Sadowsky Preamp $250.00
Nordstrand PJ5 Pickup set $150.00
Tortoiseshell pickguard $50.00
Rear route with pickguard $100.00
Plastic blocks and binding $400.00
Total $4,390 (WITHOUT straplocks, battery box and bridge!)

Now for the will breakers.

Having a rear route with a pickguard/control plate is kinda like wearing a belt and suspenders but that is one sweet bass with my favorite burst!

Nordy

Well, if you've got some nice suspenders and a crazy fancy belt you might as well flaunt them. I hear you though

Ima bump this for grins, I am falling in love though.

I might be interested if you are. Here's what I've got:

Stuart Spector, NS 5.5 #157, Woodstock
NY 1/2/96

Here are the details according to PJ from Spector:

that's our 1990's version of our current model NS-5XL:
Stuart Spector Designs, LTD - Makers of fine electric and bass guitars: UNCOMPROMISING QUALITY | UNPARALLELED VERSATILITY | UNBELIEVABLE SOUND

your bass is 34" scale. NS-5XL is 35" scale.

and we show our 1990's era basses like yours on this page:
Stuart Spector Designs, LTD - Makers of fine electric and bass guitars: UNCOMPROMISING QUALITY | UNPARALLELED VERSATILITY | UNBELIEVABLE SOUND

Hit me up if you're interested and I can get you more details/pictures.
