I've got an old skool US G&L SB-2 I was in the process of restoring, but I've just got too many projects. Since this bass works and plays, I'll move this on to someone with the time and energy to finish the restoration (or just play it as-is, 'cuz it does sound great....) and make some room for other stuff I've got going.....
The main issue, obviously, is that it's missing one of the two pups. The one pup it still has WAS the bridge pup. I moved it to the neck position, and wired the thing as if it was an old single coil P-bass and it sounds HUGE.
The rest of the electronics appear to my eye to be there but I cannot guarantee it -- the pots and swx certainly are there, just not sure about capacitors, other wiring, etc.
Nice neck. Lacquer/gloss on fingerboard was removed. Neck works fine, I even had this strung BEAD for a while just for yucks and it was great.
Other non-original items include a brass nut, a Schaller d-tuner, and a beat generic but serviceable HSC.
Pretty sure the body is maple. That's kinda cool, and sorta rare....
Weighs about 9.5 lbs.
Again, the bass works. And it's easy to restore. Matt (from Guitarman in NYC, probably THE coolest G&L dealer on the planet) thinks he can get a correct reverse-wound pup for G&L for about $100. Get the pickup, wire it in, and for under $550 you're in business the way Leo intended it....and tere are a ton of G&L geeks out there like me who have schematics and all kinds of advice for restoring these babies, you will have lots of support.
If you just want a cheap, working G&L with a huge sound, here it is.
Asking $425 plus actual shipping. I can do some small discount for USPS MO, but really, I'm hitting rock bottom here. Hell, you could prolly part it out and make more.
No trades, please.
