Nice! Love that color. I have to ask though...what's different about the variable mid filter on this one and the variable mid filter found on all Millenniums?

It would be great to see more neck pictures--I'm having trouble seeing the birdseye pattern that is advertised.

I remember seeing this on EBay. Very interesting what you did with the black blocks. Are they actually inlaid into the wood, or painted on?

I've owned two birdseye Millenniums - one 4 and one 5, sold both, but of course miss them. If this were more birdseyed I'd probably bite.

I edited the original post. The owner's manual says it is birdseye maple fb, but it looks like regular maple with some birdseye. I added more detailed photos of the fb and the gorgeous inlays.

There are TWO models of Millenniums. The USA made (top of the line) and the Indonesian made ones, also known as BXP's.
The BXP's have two jazz pups, and no variable mids. Also, not many people are aware that the BXP's only have ONE L - It is spelled "Millenium". ONLY the USA's have TWO L's spelled "MILLENNIUM". As far as I know, only the CIRRUS Tiger eye (flagship) and USA Millennium's have the variable mid. As far as the difference goes, if you have seen a Millenium with a variable mid sweep, then it's the exact same preamp, but the tone is all in the exotic woods only found on USA's. The SAME goes for all CIRRUS basses (USA vs BXP models).

I'm pretty sure "Millennium" is spelled the same (correctly, with two Ls and two Ns) regardless of where they are manufactured...

"Millennium 3 band active EQ with variable mid filter found ONLY on the tiger eye Flagship CIRRUS"

So did we clear up that all USA Millenniums also have the variable mid, or is this one special?

There is nothing special in particular about this variable mid. If there is a Millennium or Cirrus with a variable mid, then it is just like this one.

I believe all USA Millenniums have the variable mids. That's what makes the tone so versatile on these basses. And the USA's come in both a regular and a Plus model as well. This is a Plus model with the D tuner and Hipshot hardware. Best of the best, IMO.

Really does look awesome with the block neck.

You are correct. The variable mid is what makes these Millenniums so sweet.

Another free bump

I have the Vari mid on my Cirrus and it truly adds another dimension to an already sweet sounding bass it kinda reminds me of the Q switch on my Alembic. Only on the Cirrus I can dial in more of the mid-range spectrum. The only difference w the Q switch is the attack of the note which makes a definitive clear concise sound - a sharper attack in that part of the frequency range u have dialed in.
