Part 1 of The Great American 4 String Sell Off ! ! ! Pedulla, Lull & Fender

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello TB Nation ! ! !

Here we go, after all these years "36 years to be exact" I am going the 5 String way! So with that said, I am going to be selling off my 4 string Basses a few at a time.

First off is my MV Pedulla 4 string Buzz Bass.

I is much more BLUE then GREEN in-person but it always comes out this color when I take a picture of it. Could also be my camera. It's unlined with a Bart-pre and pickups. It is 9 pounds and 1 1/2 at the nut. The Epoxy finish on the fingerboard shows some wear but nothing beep and has no effect on the tone.I'm not sure what year the Bass was made, I picked it up used a few years ago on ebay. Great playing and sounding just as a Buzz Bass should be. Comes with a Pedulla hard case.

Price Drop
1250.00 OBO SHipped in the lower 48 of the US.
Not shipping outside of that so please don't ask.
I can only ship on Saturday
NO TRADES ! ! !

Much better view of what the color of the Bass really looks like.

The Fingerboard

Next up is a Mike Lull Jazz Bass. This I also got used but from a fellow TB'er in a trade. I think it is no more then a few years old. Passive but with a thunderous slap tone. Nails that Marcus tone!!! The Bass has been played and has a few nicks and dings. There is a picture of the one chip that is to the wood. Only 8 3/4 pounds. has a hipshot D Tuner and comes with aLull gigbag.

This Bass is Sold

Next up is a Fender Fretless parts Bass with a Fender Body & Neck. It has a Highway 1 Body and an American Standard Lined fretless neck with an Pedulla applied Epoxy Finish. The body is Alder with a Nitro finish. Badass II Slotted bridge, Antiquity II 60s Series pickups with CTS Pots, shitchcraft jack and an oil filled cap. This Bass is in great shape cosmetically, very little ware on the Epoxy board and is just under 10 pounds. This Bass will kill a fender Jaco Tribute Bass in tone and playability hands down! Comes with a Gator Case. I have a ton of money in this Bass so the selling price is a fare one.

This one is Sold

There will be more Basses as I get more Boxes.

thanks for looking and let me know if you have any questions.

I'd love to see pictures of the Pedulla that look like they are in color and not black and white.

BUMP for some great basses.

By the way, a few months ago, after 35 years or so playing 4 strings, I made a similar decision, to go 5 string all the way and get rid of my 4 strings (for fretted - never wanted to go 5s with fretless). It just felt like having the 4 was redundant when I had a 5, and I'm not someone who likes to have a bunch of basses that aren't getting play time.
After making the transition, I've decided to go back - there are just too many things about 4 strings that I miss too much, including the feel, the weight, and, yes, the "vibe" - for old-school blues, rock, and R&B/funk, the 5 just doesn't feel right. IMO, of course.

So ... you may want to hold on to at least one of your 4s, in case you do a reverse shift in your thinking after a while. It can happen
Of course, if you can afford to keep good 4s & 5s around, then - problem solved!

Pardon the digression. That Pedulla is gorgeous. If I hadn't just finally landed my Tony Franklin fretless ...

+1 on the 4 to 5 to 4 double reverse. Keep one for sure. You'll regret it if you don't.

There are two I'm going to keep and lock away so I don't play them as I get my 5 string mojo together. This is not a move I am making quickly, I have put alot of time in thinking this over. There is a vibe a 4 has that a 5 will never have but I'm hoping to find something new in my playing and get closer to what I'm hearing in my head.

Thanks for the advice though guys. It is greatly appreciated!
