Parts Jazz with 2Tek, EMG, Status - Project bass

Let's start this off by saying that the status neck on this bass looks like it might have some big time damage and not be stable for the long haul. I am aware of this, and the price most certainly reflects that. As it is, it needs a fret level or a new nut to not have some serious fret buzz on the first fret. Cosmetically, this bass is a mess. The clear coat is bad. Looks like someone sprayed the bass too thickly and it didn't dry and cure correctly or something.

I've honestly thought about just buying a new neck and putting it on this bass, because it really DOES sound that good, but I'm now a stay at home dad, and just simply don't have the time to work on projects like I used to, so this could be great for someone who wants a project bass to play with, that has some awesome components.

Well, if I haven't scared you off...here's the good on this bass. The electronics are awesome! The bass has a set of EMG Jazz pickups with an EMG 3 band preamp w/mid sweep as well as the EMG EXB system (this is the extra knob above the volume...) The bass sounds great with this set up!

The bass will not come with a case or a gig bag, but will be packed very well for shipment.

Asking $500.

The rest of the set is here: http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...sale/?start=20

What exactly is wrong with the neck?

It looks like before I got it, the neck sustained some damage around the first fret. The fingerboard was separating from the neck a bit, so I took it to a luthier who expoxied the cracks and I just haven't gotten around to having the frets leveled, which is why it buzzes so much. I was told that it could be stable for years, or it could have issues in the next 6 months. At this point though, it has been back with me for 2 or 3 months, and strung up the whole time with no issues other than the buzzing.

The neck also has LED's in it, which is what the blue knob is for.

The neck does have a truss rod, it is not warped, as you could see from the pictures had you gone and looked at them. Any further questions, please PM me or post them here and I'll get to them as soon as possible.
