Peavey 1983 T-45 "10-Minute Project" Bass w/OHSC

I have a sweet vintage USA-made bass up on the block. If you don't know the Peavey T-series basses, they are extremely well-made and great sounding basses.

This one is a tricky situation. Here are some pictures of the bass from the original "For Sale" thread:

It does have a few dings and some marred wood around the truss rod hole:

This was a bass I picked up recently from TB that was in sliiiightly less good condition than what I'd expected. To be totally fair, it wasn't that the bass was in poor condition... it plays well and sounds fantastic! It honestly would have been 100% fine if I hadn't buggered with the pickup cover.

However, I did. When trying to replace two screws that had become covered in rust, they actually split. On top of that, the pickup cover broke when I was screwing in replacement screws for the pickup height adjustment.

It also allowed me to take a look at the pickup, which has an inexplicable large dent. It obviously didn't affect the sound, since I never would have guessed there were any pickup issues when I played the bass originally.

Probably one of the coolest aspects of the bass is the original hard shell case! These are extremely rare and hard to find. Someone spray-painted "Sellout" on this case, but it seems like it would be easy to remove/paint over.

With work pushing me into 10+hour days until January, at which point my band goes on tour, I simply don't have the time to hunt down another pickup cover (or make one) to slap on this bass, and I don't have the woodworking expertise to pull out the broken screws safely. This means that some TBer out there who can spend 10 minutes safely removing those and slapping on a new pickup cover (which I'd be willing to bet was available through peavey or allparts or some such) will net themselves a sweet vintage USA-made bass for a mere $225 shipped or $175 local pickup (Richmond, Tidewater, DC). I've never seen one of these go for less than $300, and I've seen plenty in much worse condition than this! This is a sweet deal that someone with slightly more knowledge than me can take total advantage of.

To clarify, it was the thin plastic pickup cover that broke, not the actual mounts.

I can take more pictures of the bass at any angle, so please let me know if you need some.

Also, please let me know if this actually is more difficult than it appears to me and I'm asking too much.

Not really, it's should be really easy. It would require someone to get one of those screw remover attachments and a power drill though. I'm very tempted to take this one off your hands...for a few reasons; one of which being the case being painted "sellout"

Those cases are hard to find enough as it is... the spray paint must be a sign!

This is a silly price for the quality of this bass! So far, three people have assured me it's a fast and easy fix.

See? It's even easier than I'd thought!

Anyone buys this bass and wants that pickup ring, I will deduct the price of the ring+shipping from your total price! You can't possibly beat this deal.

Thanks... hopefully there's someone out there these days who can spend 10 minutes returning this to its former glory!

Of all the freakin luck. I've been looking for one of these "off and on" to match up with my T-40 and T-20.

Now one shows up and I cant take advantage of it.

Ah well, good luck with the sale and if a few extra shekels find their way into my pocket in the near future, I'll be in touch!

I also neglected to mention that I will include a lightly used set of DR Brite Flats (groundwounds).

I will also consider trades for Fender Jazz basses (+cash my side, obviously).

Price dropped to $225 shipped! That's less than $10 per year of age on this puppy
