These basses, $ to $, are unsurpassed!!!! Why Peavey stopped making them is a mystery to me? I have a "B-Bass" a "Fretless" never offered (conversion) and a 4 Standard.
Buy one, not mine(!) and figure out how it works for you> |

Pearl white is a fairly rare color and to my eye is quite the package. |

Jack | IMHO, I would place the G-Bass along side the Cirrus, since it pretty much is a single pickup version with a Graphite neck. Same preamp, and pickup I believe, 35" scale, etc...
But since it came out when peavey was sailing the uncharted waters of High End Basses, it gets overlooked, along with the TL-5, G-v, Rudy Sarzro Signature, and the Unity Series. If these basses had LAKLAND, Sadowsky, or Modulus on their headstock instead of "The "P" Word", they would be going for a bit more I would think.

It's the graphite Peaveys are a different animal - comparing them will only get you a bunch of "I love my XYZ" silly replies.
The more honest comparison would be wiht Zon, Modulus, Status, Bogart, Schack, Moses etc.... the problem here is few folks are qualified to do comparisons.

But, the Cirrus VFLs are soapbars and the G-Bass pickup is an MM-style, like on many US Peavey Millenniums. And the pickup position is different than either pickup on a Cirrus. I've been meaning to put my G-Bass and Mill side-by-side to see if the pickup placement is the same for the MM pickup on each, but I suspect it is not.
Oh, and the preamp is not the same as the Cirrus preamp, either, I don't think.
To my ear, the sound of the G-Bass is definitely different than the sound from either pickup on a Cirrus. I love my G-Bass, but it's not really "like" a Cirrus all that much. I think it has a little more of the flavor of an MM bass (in the sound) than the Cirrus does.

But, there is a reason why everybody makes their graphite necks with a truss rod now.
