Peavey USA Foundation S P/J Pickups - Metallic Red

Peavey USA Foundation S P/J Pickups

As close to New as a 25+ year old bass gets.

$320 – Shipped Continental USA

I have had this in storage for a long time and am looking to thin the stable.

As the photos will indicate, it has had very low hours of use... most of my time was spent with a custom order mahogany body from the same period.

Why buy a Fender Precision Special when this will save you a few hundred bucks?

Feedback

I'm proud of the bending over backwards to help any of my TBer trading pals. Chances are your first stop should be my feedback thread.

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/itrader.php?u=131516

About My Basses
In any given week I will be playing folk, contemporary jazz, church sessions and rock gigs. I use a digital biamp amplifier or go Direct. To get tonal differences to fit the genre, basses are rotated for the gig or session. I do not own basses that require a "backup". All instruments must remain in tune.

In the next few months, the music type will change. I have recently purchased 7 string fretted and electric upright. The following basses are now on the for sale list.
  • Foundation Sunburst Fretless
  • Black Foundation Fretless
  • Mahogany Body Fretted
  • Black Ashbory w/Spare Strings
I want you to be happy with your new gear. If it helps you, we can talk on the phone for a few minutes.

================================================== ==========================
General Information
I am the not the original owner of this bass. The bass appears to have very few hours playing.

If you have considered owning a USA P/J Bass and did not want to pay $750+ (or buy a beaten used one), this may be your best option.

This is a very classy looking bass and is appropriate for most music styles.

Model Foundation S
Country USA
Color Metallic Red (PMS 185)
Hardware Glossy Black
Fretboard Rosewood
Neck Bolt On Maple
Neck Neck Through with Pau Fretboard.
Electronics Dimarzio Licensed P/J
Strings Round Wounds
Modifications None
Inlay Dots
Buckle Rash NONE
High G Nail Rash NONE

Neck, Action and Intonation
This is a very sleek and fast neck – sleeker than my Jbasses with a gloss finish

This stays in tune and is very balanced up the neck. I set the action low on my basses. Every one of my basses has the bridges strobe tuned (intonated) monthly.

Finish Notes
Being an antique collector, I avoid any synthetic polishes. I do not play hard or with a pick. To avoid "buckle rash" I do not wear a belt.

The bass is wiped down with a microfiber cloth after use.

As far as I can tell, the headstock has not been banged.. the body perimeter shows no visible dings or chips.

There is one ding on the neck that does not impact the playing or finish integrity. The p/j beauty rings have hairline cracks. These should be still in production and does not affect the sound or playability.

Sound and Tone
The sound and growl of this is very close to the classic P/J sound.

Electronics
The entire electronic setup is factory Foundation S . very punchy and full.

Blind folded the average person could not hear the difference between this and a USA Fender.

Notables
I do not play with a pick. I never had issues with this bass at stage volumes.

Condition
This guitar has always remained in a climate controlled hard-shell case. This guitar is used and is years old. The black hardware has in great shape.

Please expect it to be above average for a 25+ year old bass.

I do not use stands and for the best of my knowledge has not been dropped.

Overall is a great playng and sounding bass.

================================================== ==========================
Storage and Maintenance
All of my guitars are stored in hard-shell cases vertically. Before playing, they remain in the case for an hour to acclimate to the environment. After playing, they are wiped down with a microfiber cloth. Truss rod adjustments and intonation are performed annually. To help preserve the factory finish, I do not use any polishes.

Shipping

You will receive the guitar wrapped in a industrial packaging. You will have the option of preimum handling via Greyhound OR Standard handling via Fedex Ground…

If you have specific shipping requests I am willing to deliver to an UPS store. Insurance costs are not included and your responsibility. Greyhound has the best handling in the transport business, they charge about $50 to transport a guitar. Please allow a week for handling.

Cases
There are several cases listed on Talkbass.com Capitol Guitars will sell a gig bag for $30. Please let me know if you would like one.

Location and 3rd Party Inspection
The guitars are located in St. Paul Minnesota you are welcome to visit and play them. If you are a longer distance away, Capitol Guitars will work with you on a 3rd party inspection. To help with my scheduling, please let me know a few days in advance.

Payment
Paypal is preferred for speed and accuracy. Please include the make/model in both the subject and notes box on your paypal transaction.

Trades and Wishlist
Please PM me if you have any reasonable trades. To make things fair, I can trade multiple things for one of yours OR include cash/paypal.

I’m looking for the following.
  • Micro Head (small budget power amplifier)
  • USA Manufactured Basses
  • Active Direct Boxes
  • Quality Straps
  • Strings
Other Items for Sale
To save on shipping, please consider combining with the following.

Great Bass!

This is one of the greatest basses Peavey has made. Whoever buys this won't be disappointed.

I could weigh it if it's a decision point.

My estimate would be around 8 pounds.

Most of the older Foundations I've played have been on the heavier side, which is why I asked. I have problems with my shoulder so I need lighter basses.

About 8 Pounds

I have a charcoal one of the same style and it weighs in at 8 pounds. The earlier Foundation S's seem to weigh closer to 9 pounds.

Thanks John... Weight is just one issue for the comfort level.. I have Conklins that weight more than a T-40 and are much more comfortable.

Foundation S

I have 5 and they are all light. By far some of the best basses I have ever owned or played. Why they don't sell for 3 times or 4 times what you can buy one for is beyond reason. Beautiful finishes usually metallic or pearl, 7 1/2 neck radius's (like old Fender's) nut width is similar to a Fender Jazz, Frets are perfect, Broadleaf Western poplar for the bodies, Dimarzio/Shaller pickups, Some came out with active pickups prob made by EMG or Seymour (but stamped Peavey)--they sound more like Seymour--very smooth and not harsh, Rich, rich rosewood or Pau Ferro fretboard, (none made with maple fretboards) classic superb hardware by Schaller I think) Lots of other features.

I have a red one, a blue one, 2 white ones, and I have a black one outfitted with all Bartolini PJ"s and Bartolini active EQ, it is for sale at my local music store.

If more people knew about these, you wouldn't be able to find one.......yes, they are that good!!!
