For sale is my 1993 Cherry Red Pedulla Thunderbolt 4 string bass. It is finished in a translucent cherry red with nicely grained subtle birdseye maple top with some figuring in the gain, especially on the front, and a beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard. The bass plays great, and has wonderful ergonomics, perfect balance, and no neck dive. Neck is straight, and truss rod functions fine. Frets are in excellent condition - I can't see any significant fret wear, with no fret sprout, and no buzzes. I have had it for a year. I thought the original first generation 9 volt Pedulla Vol-Pan-Tone preamp was lacking in tone control range, and I really like an active/passive bypass. The tone pot works fine, it's just that it's a passive tone control in an otherwise active bass. Thus, I bought an Aguilar OBP-2 preamp (Vol-Pan-stacked Bass/Treble) with an active/passive bypass switch prewired from Best Bass Gear, and replaced the original preamp and Thunderguts circuit with the OBP-2. This gave the bass much more tone range and clarity. Per the Pedulla website, you can upgrade to the newer Pedulla circuitry with Thunderguts switch for $275. The original Pedulla V-P-T and Thunderguts circuits have now been installed back in it, returning it to it's original condition, with all the original electronics and hardware now back on the bass. There is an enormous range of tones available using the pickup pan control and Thunderguts, but not nearly the tone control that it had with the OBP-2 with active bass/treble control.

This bass has some light superficial wear on it, all of which was present when I bought it last year, with no new nicks or scratches since. There is some superficial buckle rash on the back, and some superficial pick or finger swirls on the front. I tried to pic this up in the pics, but it just doesn't show up well. There is some superficial wear along the bottom and sides that I have tried hard to show on the pics. Some of the "blemishes" in the pics, particularly the more circular ones are actually some woodgrain "birdseye" like grain variations. There also are a couple tiny dings on the tip of the headstock, that you can see only when looking down from above, not from in front.

Tried to show the slight wear on the edge here.
You can see a little of the birdseye figuring here.

Original Pedulla hardshell case included, with some light wear present (see pics).

NOTE: Pictures show nickel strap buttons. Original Pedulla hardware black strap buttons have been put back on. Also, the pictures show a stacked bass/treble knob, which has been replaced with the original stock black Pedulla tone knob.

Bass has been kept in a humidity-controlled room, in a smoke free house. It has fairly new, hardly used Pedulla strings on it now.

This bass is easily worth much more. Bump for a great axe, makes me miss the blueburst fiver I lusted after a friend owned.
