Pre Gibson Tobias #389 5-string

$3500.00

I love everything about this bass but I am simply used to 19mm spacing so the old policy applies;

"don't keep anything that I am not playing regularly regardless of how nice it is"

Just picked it up from chris here on TB and as I do with all of my basses had my luthier blow through it... $180 dollars later it plays even better than it did before i bought it. Brand new DR high beams, fret level and crown, full set up / intonation...

Refer to the previous link for more pics....

Pre Gibson Tobias Classic #389

Not interested in trades at this time........

Thank You

Here is a cool tidbit on this bass. When I wrote Mike Tobias to get some clarity on the wood selection of the bass, here was his reply (Romeo Williams was evidently gigging with Elton John at the time)...

David,

Thanks for writing. the bass is a pernambuco top with an alder back maple and pernambuco neck pauferro board. made in early 1986 all the book says is that it was made for Romeo Williams. Enjoy it!

Best regards,

Michael Tobias

This bass is amazing. Only reason I sold is because I picked up another one. Nice light weight too. Earliest one I've seen without the Omega cut

It is the standard spacing that is on all of these pre-gib 5ers...I believe it is 17.5mm.
Can anyone who is really knowledgable on these basses verify that?

You are correct. It is 17.5mm. I had measured before I sold it.
