PRICED TO MOVE!! Fender Jazz Bass 24 - PLEKed!

Sign in to disble this ad
In brand new condition
Jazz 24 - tobacco burst, quilt top, Duncan 1/4 pounder j pickups, Duncan 3-band EQ pre-amp.

Just got it back from Mike Lull who set it up and put it on his Plek machine.
Total set up cost me $360 plus return shipping. Mike glued down the the frets, made sure the fretboard was trued, put it on the plek, cask a little magic spell and now the bass plays like the $2,500 custom basses I have owned... seriously. The frets have a mirror polish to them and there is ZERO fret buzz - and I have a heavy right hand.

Only selling as I want to buy back one of my old basses (the one I should have never let go of).

REDUCED! $450 SHIPPED CONUS. NOW WITH HARDSHELL CASE

I Need to move this.

More Pics

See the 6-bolt neck and the string-through construction. The bridge can also have the strings run through the back plate like a normal fender bridge. Also, its a high-mass bridge - basically a Gotoh 401 without the branding on it. The control cover still has the plastic wrap on it. (so the QC stick will come right off with it)

Hey... why am I selling this???

Headstock

Here you can see the Metalic Inlay "Fender" logo - very nice looking in person. Also, the Hipshot lightweight tuners.

Tight neck pocket

OK, this bass was made in Korea by Cort for Fender. Look at the pics below of the tolerances of the construction. This is a TIGHT neck pocket. On my old 1996 American standard J-bass I could fit a business card or two between the neck and the body. On my early '90's MIJ P-bass I can fit a couple of pieces of paper. This construction is actually better (tighter neck pocket) than the '98 Warwick that I just sold here on TB. There is ZERO play in this neck pocket and the overall construction is OUTSTANDING. Mike Lull even commented to me when I dropped off the bass how nice it is.

Anyone that tells you "oh, it's made in Korea, it must be crap" has NO idea what they are talking about.

weight - not sure as I have no bathroom scale. BUT, it is pretty light. Definitely under 9 lbs. Say 8.5. The scaled down body really cuts some weight and I think effects the tone in a good way. It feels like the same weight of a custom bass I had some time ago which was about 7.5 lbs, but that is going off of memory, so I am being conservative and saying 8.5 lbs.

Someone asked so I'll post it here - I will ship to Canada for an additional $25. I just shipped a Warwick I sold here on TB a couple of weeks ago to someone in Canada, so I know roughly how much it costs.

Someone buy this before it goes to e-bay. Or is this not a great deal?

Oh yeah, the volume knob can be pulled up to go passive and the mini switch is for a "slap contour" mode on the pre-amp. Pretty slick.

One of my students owns one of these - they SMOKE! The tone is huge and the feel is great in this price range.
