I've got a Retrovibe RB4 Rickenfaker, white with black binding that you absolutely cannot get in the US. I paid $529 with shipping and it arrived with a substantial chip at the bottom strap button (strap covers the flaw) and two tiny dings on the back. I politely complained and was refunded the $129 shipping charge. I'm going out on a limb in assuming this is why David will no longer ship to the US.

Its pretty fun to play, but it doesn't sound like a Ric...or a MM for that matter. I don't know how to compare the sound as I've played nothing but active basses for a long time. Maybe in the ballpark of a passive OLP??
I had at one point installed a Hipshot Ricky replacement bridge so there are two screw-holes under the bridge which are perfectly hidden unless you look under the flange of the MM style bridge.
I also "ebonized" the rosewood board with ebony fretboard stain for the "tuxedo" look. Its a sharp looking bass IMO.
