Rare! MTD JJ4 (a`la Norm Stockton build)

Sign in to disble this ad
Pains me to put this one up as I'm not sure how many of these Mike has ever built (I've never seen another JJ4 banger and only a handful of 5er's) but here it goes... an MTD JJ4 US build by the man himself in Iced Tea burst w/ Bart pup's and pre including his customary hand signed and numbered headstock (accompanying all of his US handmade basses). Basswood body, maple neck and board weighing in at a redunckulus 6.8 lbs. This one is in mint condition and ships in a TKL case w/original COA along with a new set of packaged MTB nickels. No trades please. $2475 shipped CONUS standard PayPal. Here's a link to Norm and Mike talking about the concept of the build...‪The GrooveSpot: Episode 2 - Norm's MTD J5‬‏ - YouTube

And here's a quotation from the MTD certificate of authenticity accompanying the bass " This bass is 34" scale with 21 frets. The neck and body are hand finished with an epoxy base coat and catalyzed urethane topcoat. This should make a great feeling and durable finish. The pick-ups and active electronics are custom made by Bill Bartolini. The controls are: volume/passive tone (stacked), treble, mid (push pull, 250/800), bass with an active /passive switch. "

MTD JJ4

This particular one is. I am, however not the original owner (second I believe) but I have contacted Mike in regards to the bass. I did not inquire as to whether the choice of body woods was Mikes or the buyers.

And very nicely priced (if I might add). Mike told me that for him to build a new one it would retail out at around $5000. This one is not new as it was built in 2008, but I for the life of me cannot find a mark or any wear to speak of on her.
