And here's a quotation from the MTD certificate of authenticity accompanying the bass " This bass is 34" scale with 21 frets. The neck and body are hand finished with an epoxy base coat and catalyzed urethane topcoat. This should make a great feeling and durable finish. The pick-ups and active electronics are custom made by Bill Bartolini. The controls are: volume/passive tone (stacked), treble, mid (push pull, 250/800), bass with an active /passive switch. "
