RARE ORIGINAL GOLD BODY FENDER PRECISION P Bass Vintage 1979

Body and Electronics are from a circa 1980 "Gold Series" made only one year. Gold is one of the coolest Fender colors ever and it looks even better than photos convey.

I prefer rosewood so replaced the wide maple neck and plain white pickguard with a Fender NECK 1979 (# S9 xxx) and the matching pickguard from that bass (sticker on bottom of pickguard w same ser # as neck). It is really the "best of two basses" in one and certainly "one of a kind". More so than a special order Custom Shop that would cost much more.

I also professionally gold plated the chrome parts. The knurled knobs show some wear but the rest of the Gold plating is very well done and looks excellent.

One of a kind. All period correct genuine Fender. Not only sounds great but has an amazing, fast playing neck. Not quite a jazz width but close. Dark rosewood almost black. SUPER PLAYER!

Hard case from the era. Maybe from a Ricky?
THIS WOULD BE A GREAT TOURING BASS. Vintage FENDER QUALITY AND AN APPEARANCE THAT YOU CAN BE PROUD OF. Great vibe and already "aged" 30+ years. Nice flatwound strings for a warm and buttery tone.

No Trades. Will Sell for $1,775 SHIPPED!

GOLD P BASS! One Of A Kind. ALL FENDER!

Hello. Thanks for the Kewl comments. I am the second owner and have had this bass since 1985. Maybe been to five gigs. It has been in the case. Climate controlled. And in a non smoking environment. No "greening" of the gold that often happens.

I gig a lot and have a couple hot rodded MIM and MIJ Fenders that do all the work.

There is one extra strap button hole on the back upper horn. Otherwise really squeeky clean. Some nice "old school" Dean Markley flats with the gold wrap on there too.

It's a great bass and bound to make someone happy.

A couple more photos. Thanks!
