6/19 price drop to $575!!! Rare USA Ibanez ATK Trans Red, Bunker Floating Neck

Sign in to disble this ad
6/19/10: Last ditch TB price drop to $575 (firm) shipped CONUS. I need to move this but don't want to go to EvilBay!

I bought this bass not too long ago and it smokes. I recently had a chance to buy one my dream Fenders and have to sell this before interest hits on the credit card.

This is one of, if not the only, Ibanez models ever produced in the USA. There were less than 400 made between 4 and 5 strings. This one is near mint apart from some very light swirling on the back. It includes the original OHSC.

The trans red looks awesome and it plays like a dream! The neck is maple with an abalone or mother of pearl (not sure which) inlayed flamed maple fretboard. This bass has better sustain than any other bass I have ever owned (well over 100 in the past 15 years). These were made in the USA for Ibanez by Bunker/PBC guitars and feature Bunker's tension free floating neck system which NEVER needs adjusting:

http://bunker-guitars.com/articles/tension-free.html

This is for sale only. DROPPED TO $650 shipped CONUS. PayPal only.

The only trade I would consider is for an 8 Ohm Orange 15" cabinet. Maybe one of those new 212's they make now.

Here are a ton of pictures, both with flash and without. Any apparent blemishes are either a smudge from my fingers, the flash, or my row of bathroom lights reflecting.

Thanks! Build quality is superb too. On par or better than any bass I've owned that cost twice this much.

According to the ever reliable bathroom scale test, somewhere between 9.5 and 10 lbs, which is on the average or slightly light side for an ATK. These are meant to compete with StingRays, so they are heavy like one, particularly due to the ash body and massive bridge.

Just weighing this thing is really making me wish I could keep it but I have to sell to pay for my P and to adhere to my self imposed GAS compensating three bass limit!

Also, a slight edit to the original post- I did some Googling and it seems less than 400 of these were made. There is one now on eBay with a bit of wear under the "Treker" brand that Bunker assembled from whatever remaining stock that had as after their deal with Ibanez ended. It doesn't have the same quality of hardware, a RW fretboard vs. flamed maple, and has a plastic surround on a normal bridge rather than the high mass job on this. Right now it has a BIN of $835 plus shipping. I'm asking $800 shipped. Asking means just that...

Hey! I need to update that- I was in TWSS. I am back doing the original thing now... hopefully playing out again soon.

I really shouldn't trade but maybe, particularly since it's local. Is yours black or sunburst?

Black (as in how I like my coffee)! No pressure really. No biggie either way.

Looks like a sweet finish!

I have no interest in it though (no cash ) but just a tip: photographing it against a light colored background would probably show it off better. The red finish is sort of blending in with the red case lining making it harder to see. In any case, that is a very nice bass.

Bump for a magnificent bass! I was actually thumping on mine during a break at work today and just feeling so in love with it. These are amazing players and they sound as good as they feel.

Thanks! I love it too and am really getting cold feet about it. Not sure I have anything else I can sell in it's place though.

You are right there... I'm not the best photographer. I will get some new pics up over the weekend if it's still available.

You were spot on- I just added a few new pics and the red pops right out.

I did some mathin', calculating in eBay fees if I end up having to go that route, and figured I'd drop this some more for TB- $575 (firm) shipped CONUS.
